Our Senior Designers craft masterful digital experiences that aspire to define new industry standards. They’re forever curious, connected to the pulse of digital design, technology, and are constantly exploring new ways to challenge convention. Senior Designers are experienced enough to know when to leverage best-practices and when to push the envelope. They’re strong conceptual thinkers, able to collaborate with cross-discipline teams to come up with new ideas and approaches throughout the lifecycle of a project. Senior Designers are also strong systems thinkers, able to create solutions that bend and flex to solve for a number of different challenges.
Senior Designers are also expected to be mentors to junior designers, helping them improve their conceptual and systematic thought processes, executional excellence, and overall digital acumen.
This role reports directly to the Associate Design Director.
Responsibilities / Responsabilités
Conducting design research:
Auditing competitive experience architecture, navigation paradigms, interaction models, visual analogies, type, color, imagery, composition, motion, and animation.
Conducting user interviews.
Creating insight reports:
Identifying conventional tactics.
Understanding emerging trends.
Pinpointing unique opportunities.
Leading conceptual design explorations by defining potential experience architectures, navigation paradigms, interaction models, and visual analogies
Designing digital solutions:
Translating brand identity into UI.
Defining final experience architecture, navigation paradigms, interaction models, and visual analogies.
Defining rules for typography, color, imagery, composition, motion, and animation.
Creating both high & low-fidelity prototypes.
Clearly communicating design rationale.
Working closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility and experiential parity.
Validating designs through usability tests.
Documenting the design process for posterity.
Maintaining design excellence:
Developing unique design directions.
Providing clear feedback on concepts, experience architecture, navigation paradigms, interaction models, typography, color, imagery, composition, motion, and animation.
Ensuring timely delivery of design work.
Measuring the quality of design work.
Minimum 5 years experience in a relatively senior role at a digital agency or start-up
A portfolio that showcases your strength and creativity in both UX and visual design
Able to work independently and craft strong narratives to showcase your work/process to clients and the team at large
Able to think laterally across all aspects of the digital experience—brand, marketing/experiential, and product/services
Demonstrated understanding and application of the user-centered design process
Skilled in using the standard industry toolkit: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision (or similar prototyping software)
Confidence to explore other software alternatives that may improve process
Experience with motion design and 3D a strong asset
Expertise developing IA, wireframing, and conducting and synthesizing research
Experience facilitating workshops an asset
Proven experience in systems thinking and best practices
High-level understanding of development processes
