We are looking for an experienced PURCHASING TEAM LEAD to join Supply Chain team in Burnaby, BC.
Reporting to Purchasing & Planning Manager, the Purchasing Team Lead will support the manager in developing policies and making improvements to established processes to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Purchasing team. This position will assist the Purchasing Manager to drive continuous improvements in on-time delivery, lead time reduction, cost reduction, and inventory control.
This position will oversee the acquisition of materials needed for customer orders, production, general supplies, and equipment for the office and facility. This position will also supervise and coach Buyers, handle new business inquires and critical issues, and coordinate with other functional departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support Purchasing & Planning Manager on assigned tasks or projects for operational success
Maintain team’s standard of work and performance; establish work priorities and schedules
Strive for the best practices in Purchasing and implement corrective actions
Create, monitor, and communicate action plans to address team issues and opportunities
Coach and train Buyers to achieve optimum efficiency, effectiveness, and on how to deal with claims or issues
Create/refine workflow and control document
Educate and ensure compliance to Purchasing policies and procedures
Participate in internal and external audits (ISO9000-14001, TL9000, SOX)
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) and/or Project Management (PMI) certified
A minimum of five years of procurement experience and a demonstrated level of leadership experience in a similar or related business
High sense of urgency; ability to identify and prioritize key daily initiatives
High level of personal accountability
A forward thinker and a self-motivator
Excellent communication skills and teamwork
Strong organizational, strategic, and analytical skills
Must be a strong problem solver and have demonstrated good negotiation skills
Must be able to multi-task and be detail-oriented
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio, Smartsheet, Power BI)
Intensive working knowledge of ERP and can work with software developers from sandbox to live
