Position Title: Assistant Manager, Privacy

Work Location: Education Centre Aurora (60 Wellington St. West, Aurora, ON, L4G 3H2)

Salary: $80,912 - $91,065

Number of Positions: One (1)

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, responsible for privacy program operations.

Major Responsibilities:
To provide advisory services, including the review of new applications and business processes that require access to personal information, ensuring compliance with privacy standards, legislation, and industry best practices.
To develop, implement and lead the strategic direction of YRDSB’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
To act as a privacy subject matter expert in business process, system strategy, architecture and design.
To collaborate with staff to provide privacy expertise on the design and development of new applications / functionalities and workflow.
To manage and develop internal privacy training program.
To review electronic and other information management systems and tools to ensure compliance with organizational policies, privacy and data security standards, and relevant legislation.
To review data sharing agreements in collaboration with other departments and senior staff.
To perform privacy audits and impact assessments, report findings and recommend corrective action.
To investigate incidents and complaints, manage the incident response plan, and recommend corrective action to avoid repeated incidents
To oversee and sign off on Privacy Impact Assessments related to internal and external systems.
To perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Completion of an undergraduate degree and/or graduate degree from a recognized program that has a strong emphasis on data and information management, or equivalent, as approved by the board.
A minimum of 7 seven years’ experience in a privacy-related role, education sector is required.
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designation or formal training/certification in the areas of MFIPPA, PIPEDA and PHIPA preferred.
Strong Information Technology knowledge and understanding as it relates to privacy compliance is required.
Experience developing and implementing training and education programs, in the area of privacy is required.
Experience with polices and procedure documentation.
Strong analytic, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and planning skills is required.
Ability to analyze and interpret pertinent legislation is required.
