Job purpose

The main function of the Marketing Specialist is to assist and support the implementation of marketing and merchandising strategies at retail level for the Laura Mercier brand. Provide operational marketing support in order to implement seasonal brand programs and events. Coordinate with Territory Manager, Sales Administration team and Training to ensure seamless execution of marketing programs. The Marketing Specialist will report to the Brand Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

Implementation of Marketing Launches and Promotional programs:

  • Support forecasting of new products, samples and promotional program components with Brand Manager
  • Manage the sample tracking, inventory and budgets for all sampling, GWP and TOA programs
  • Develop and design in-store collateral for product launch campaigns and events as per brand holder guidelines
  • Develop seasonal Power Point presentations for market launches and programs as needed
  • Drive retail sales by developing in-store tools for launches and special events per marketing calendar
  • Initiate, maintain and update the allocation summary for launches and promotions while working with Brand Manager and Sales department to ensure flawless program shipments and in-store implementation
  • Attend monthly project meetings to ensure department synergies
  • Manage and develop coop advertising copy and approvals, as well as track coop budgets
  • Create Retailer Handouts for the seasonal marketing program

Merchandising:

  • Develop, maintain and communicate the planogram directory for all channels of distribution to field team
  • Participate in brand merchandising calls with brand holder
  • Manage approval process with retailers
  • Along with Brand Manager map, update and track tester units, gondola and in store bays per brands seasonal focus working within the brand holder guidelines
  • Act as the key contact with outside suppliers for locally sourced items
  • Produce merchandising visuals, pricing strips and display communication pieces as needed
  • Maintain transparency file and organize the image update seasonally as directed by brand holder

Production and Assembly:

  • Initiate, maintain and update BOMs for launches and promotional programs and tester prepacks
  • Maintain and update seasonal sampling programs for the brand
  • After confirming quotes with Brand Manager, issue purchase orders via the AS400 system to suppliers

Communication:

  • Liaise with field sales, sales administration, training teams and communication departments to ensure seamless execution of marketing plans
  • Maintain ongoing communication of marketing programs with retailer buying office coordinators
  • Develop and produce store and field level promotional communications to maximize promotional and launch programs as required
  • Coordinate translation and development of French marketing materials
  • Coordinate and deliver all retailer advertising samples and images for launches and events as required
  • Assist with all aspects of sales meetings and team events

Upholding the Shiseido Corporate and Brand Values:

  • Representing the brand image and upholding the brand values and standards in corporate and public settings
  • Communicating the Laura Mercier story and Shiseido corporate culture
  • Be proactive and creative with problem-solving attributes to evolve with market conditions

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business Marketing and/or Communication related disciplines
  • Strong creative, analytical, negotiating and organizational abilities
  • Minimum 3 years related experience ideally in the cosmetic industry
  • Proficient in computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, InDesign, Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Must be detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Strong written & oral communication
  • Experience with event planning
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in a team-based environment
  • Bilingual (English & French) an asset
