Ai-Media was co-founded in Australia in 2003 by Tony Abrahams (CEO) and Alex Jones (who is profoundly deaf), with the aim to end the experience of social, educational, and vocational exclusion faced by people with a disability or disadvantage. Since Ai-Media’s founding, we have continued to deliver the highest quality access services possible to organizations around the world.
We are looking for people who share our passion for accessibility and inclusion to be trained as Live Voice Captioners. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work for a market-leading technology company that builds products and solutions for the largest organizations in the world, across Broadcast TV, Live Sport, Big Tech, Corporate, and Government. No two days will be the same as you caption for some of the world's largest companies and prestigious events. Our established remote training program will take you from a beginner to a trained live Captioner in four (4) weeks while working from home.
How the Training Program Works
You will have a dedicated trainer who will guide you on the finer points of captioning. Once you successfully complete the program, you will be ready to provide captions for our customers and join an organization that truly believes in nurturing and empowering our people.
We offer a structured online training program delivered by members of our experienced North American team. We have 1 (one) training program we are currently recruiting and accepting applications for:
August 8th – September 9th: 11 AM – 4 PM ET, Monday - Friday
During the four (4) week remote training program you will receive regular feedback on your progress with several milestones to meet. You will learn:
- The process of how live captions are created using Respeaking
- To use Ai-Media's live captioning toolkit to open content for college students and working professionals that rely on live captioning to participate in the classroom, their workplace, and broader discussions at community events, conferences, and online video streams
- Streamtext training and SmartLexi (our human-curated, machine-automated captioning product – for more info visit Smart Lexi™ | Automatic Captioning Built on Human Curation and Machine Learning | EEG Video (eegent.com))
- From other Voice Captioners via shadow shifts
What We Offer
- Paid, 4-week training at $16 per hour – includes instructor-led online course, 1:1 mentoring & shadowing shifts
- $19 per hour once training is successfully completed

Requirements
· Availability to work fluctuating weekly schedule of 15 - 20 hours per week
· Availability for training dates, August 8 – September 9, 11 AM-5 PM ET
· Exceptional command of the English language, both written and verbal
· Previous Captioning experience is considered an asset
· Comfortable and able to work effectively under pressure
· Quick learner of new programs and technologies
· Self-motivated, able to work independently from home
· Previous experience in roles such as Communications, Transcribing, Note Taking, has proven to be helpful for success in this role
