The Opportunity:
We’re looking for an Internal Auditor to join our Audit team.

Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit the Internal Auditor is a newly created role responsible for facilitating a systematic and ongoing internal evaluation of risk management, internal controls and governance processes. As part of Aviso’s Internal Audit team, responsibilities include the planning and execution of the approved internal audit plan and other related projects, delivering the results, and providing recommendations for improvements to enhance the effectiveness of internal controls and the control environment.

As this is a new position, the Internal Auditor will contribute to the development of Aviso’s Internal Audit Practices, the Quality Assurance Improvement Program, as well as any implementation of audit management and analytics systems.

What your day looks like:
Conduct internal audits and follow-up reviews as determined by the internal audit plan
Prepare audit working papers to document relevant information obtained, analyzed and evaluate the logic and evidence that support audit observations and conclusions
Plan, perform, evaluate, summarize and communicate activities in a professional, competent, independent and objective manner
Communicate with management to discuss audit findings and agree on a course of action and/or solutions to mitigate the risks
Draft high-quality audit reports and/or provide oral reports and present observations and recommendations
Contribute to the annual risk-based internal audit plan in accordance with internal audit methodology
Provide assistance to contracted 3rd party auditors to facilitate effective and efficient completion of the internal audit plan
Ensure follow-up reviews of management action items are conducted to mitigate risk /control exposures
Keep current of internal auditing and related professional standards and contribute to Aviso’s initiatives and goals
Become a trusted business partner to key stakeholders
Establish and maintain trusting relationships with all team members, both direct and indirect reports, leveraging the strengths, opportunities and past experiences of all team members


Your experience and skills:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting / Finance or related field
Relevant accounting or audit designation [Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)]
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization, including senior management
3 + years of progressively internal audit experience within the financial services industry (credit union, securities dealer/broker, asset management, insurance)
Other qualifications (CISA, CFE, CAMS Audit, CRMA, CFSA) would be an asset
Experience with audit management software and data analytics
