Quebec’s ABB Measurement & Analytics plant is a world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and for global weather forecasting. Our plant is also known for its expertise in the development and manufacture of various products that meet a number of industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.
By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec City, you will actively contribute to our clients' projects, as well as to research and development of our technology. You will be part of a dynamic and challenging multidisciplinary team where you will perform various tasks, while ensuring that our methodology, tools and work processes are respected and continuously improved.
Your role as a project planner and controller will be to consolidate planning and cost control for all of the company's projects, ranging from $10k to $10M, to analyze and optimize the resource needs of the various projects, in accordance with corporate priorities and objectives. You will be required to work in close collaboration with all departments to obtain the most up-to-date data and propose solutions. You will need to make sure that the allocation of resources to projects is appropriate and accurate. Finally, you will play a leading role in the development of multi-project planning and control processes, methodology and tools.
You will develop the project timelines including preparing work batches, sequencing and duration of tasks, setting milestones, determining the critical path, and optimizing resources.
You will obtain the information you need to change timelines and update them. You will control the deadlines in the project timelines and will optimize the schedules according to the information received.
You will consolidate the requests for resources coming from the projects in progress, production and sales. You will analyze the impacts of unplanned requests.
You will analyze the progress of the projects and the deviations from the approved reference, and you will analyze the risks of delays. You will propose corrective actions and adjustments to the timelines.
You will support the project manager and project team for the detailed and strategic planning of their project.
You will analyze revenue and expense budget forecasts on the short- and long term.
If necessary, you will prepare and validate the financial data for the monthly project reports on project progress, including the discrepancy, trend and forecast reports that will be provided to clients.
You will consolidate and analyze the project indicators. You will analyze the causes of discrepancies.
You will support the Finance Department for anything to do with monitoring and controlling projects.
You will ensure that our project planning and control software tools (Primavera and SAP) work.
You will be required to define, develop and implement procedures for controlling costs and tracking timelines.
You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the Project Management process.

You have training in administration, or solid experience in contract project execution or research and development.
You have 10 years of experience in project planning and project cost control.
You have a good ability to analyze and synthesize.
You have good time management skills and a sense of work organization.
You are self-reliant and versatile, and you demonstrate an ease of adaptation.
You have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with an MS-Project or Primavera planning tool.
You have excellent knowledge of the Office Suite office tools (Word and Excel), and good knowledge of SAP.
You are customer-satisfaction oriented, you demonstrate qualities of teamwork and collaboration
You have a concern for order and quality, attention to detail and you are meticulous.
You are fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
