The role of the System Engineer is to implement and support core CHC global IT infrastructure through major projects and initiatives and provide direct Tier-3 technical support and assist in the coordination of IT activities in support of CHC's Global IT operations. This position will report directly to the Manager of Infrastructure and Security
Implements technical solutions and provides direction on technical matters, trouble shooting and optimization recommendations within areas of expertise.
Perform root-cause analysis for service interruption and develops solutions to complex technical problems on the network and takes appropriate urgent actions. Designs, installs and configures highly-available virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
Proactively maintain IT Infrastructure: performance monitoring, security configuration, vm lifecycles, creation and maintenance of vm templates, host patching.
Provide operational support, of the global IT infrastructure: server and storage solutions, network, global messaging environment, and other components of IT infrastructure.
Provide maintenance, oversight and technical expertise for the global CHC Active Directory environment.
Installs, configures and maintains Citrix XenApp global farms providing reliable, fast access to applications and technical manuals.
Installs, configures and maintains large, complex client/servers in support of business requirements.
Configure and support web based portals and applications.
Create, test and deploy software packages for global project requirements
Configure, perform and monitor system level backups and restores via enterprise level backup solutions
Consults with client group to understand business requirements and issues, determine application delivery methods and service requirements and conduct systems analysis.
Leadership of a small team of project team resources where necessary.
Manage basic projects including planning, resource coordination and implementation.
Create and maintain operational and procedural documentation.
Implement automated systems management functions including performance metrics, status monitoring, intrusion detection, virus scanning, etc.
Monitor and troubleshooting of networking devices for LAN/WAN (ethernet and wireless)
Research, review and recommend hardware and software standards and purchasing
Assist with the creation of CHC's IT policies, procedures and standards
Define requirements; implement standards, maintenance tasks and documentation for Microsoft Server and services in the CHC global environment.
Assist in the development, implementation and testing of disaster recovery procedures, service outage workarounds, and system safeguards
International travel may be required.
