The AVP, Asset Management Compensation plays a critical role in supporting growth and evolution, and rewarding success, in Sun Life Capital Management (SLC), our innovative investment business providing diversified solutions built on alternative asset classes for our Clients. Reporting to the SVP Total Rewards, you will lead a small but mighty team that partners with business and HR Leaders, and leverages data and analytics, to design, implement and manage compensation strategies and programs that produce measurable outcomes. As a member of Sun Life’s global Total Rewards Leadership Team and total rewards relationship manager for SLC, you will drive change to bring our purpose to life through a modern, compelling, and integrated rewards experience for each Employee.
Partnering with business and HR, leads the design and implementation of new compensation strategies and programs to support the growth and evolution of the business, for example, new short and long-term incentive plans, co-investment plans, one-time programs.
Collaborates with HR to communicate compensation and manage change as well as playing a key relationship management role in support of an integrated view of total rewards strategies, activities, and changes for SLC.
Partners and leads on critical business initiatives such as M&A due diligence and\or integration and transformation.
Oversees and delivers the work of the compensation function for the SLC business such as the annual compensation cycle, market benchmarking, salary and incentive structure design, compensation recommendations, job evaluation, ensuring appropriate governance and compliance with legislation.
Contributes as a senior Total Rewards leader and member of the global Total Rewards Leadership Team in shaping and delivering strategies, promoting Employee-orientation and integration in delivery of all total rewards work, and finding and developing talent for the future.
Possesses a growth mindset with willingness to challenge the status quo, try new things, test & learn and empower others to do the same, innovates and finds new solutions that solve business problems or create business opportunities.

Broad and deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing compensation strategies and programs. Experience with asset management compensation and M&A due diligence and\or integration work is a significant asset. Broader experience in total rewards is beneficial, though not required.
Ability to independently shape, produce, and deliver ideas, presentations, and documents tailored to Executive and Board-level audiences.
Ability to independently define how to approach work, engage and influence stakeholders including navigating in a matrix organization, manage through ambiguity, address challenges and meet timelines to deliver the work of the function. Experience working in agile is an asset.
Over 12 years of experience and a University education in Business, Human Resources or a related field. An MBA or MIR is an asset.
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
