Reporting to the Director, Internal Reporting, the incumbent will combine their functional accounting expertise, systems knowledge and planning experience to ensure the success of departmental goals and objectives.
In addition, you will support the department in all aspects of financial planning and analysis, on-going and tactical analysis and reporting to support the department objectives
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Reporting & Analysis:
Analyze monthly results to budget and/or forecast; provide insights and recommendations as necessary.
Adhere to corporate reporting policies, guidelines and timetables.
Leverage Smartview Analysis and Financial Reporting Studio for reporting purposes.
Assist with the testing of newly developed Hyperion reports; provide insights and recommendations as necessary.
Key member of the Decision Support team for supporting and aligning an analysis approach across the company.
Assist in converting excel-based models to Hyperion-based models per the department’s goals and objectives.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Be a key contributor to the financial forecasting activities.
Provide support for the divisional and functional annual budget and quarterly forecast processes and key performance indicators.
Assist in developing timelines and templates.
Assist in developing and maintaining performance monitoring tools for our strategy.
Assist in the implementation of performance measurement tools, including KPI's, scoreboards, dashboards and other financial models.
As it relates to our budgeting, planning, forecasting and analysis function and applications:
Support system design, development and testing as required.
Assist with the analysis of business processes and business problems.
Support Strategic Planning & Decision Support team with the documentation for procedures, user training material, test plans, and test scripts.
Support Strategic Planning & Decision Support team with the development of best-practice documentation.
Provide support to the development team for Hyperion and Essbase applications and projects, as required.
Contribute to and execute on the development of processes to integrate system data into existing financial planning processes.
Prepare ad hoc and what-if analysis as required.
Working with Strategic Planning & Decision Support team, contribute to the development and improvement of processes and formal process documentation.
Working with Strategic Planning & Decision Support team, align and support Decision Support team in the best practice and utilization of Smartview Analysis and Financial Reporting Studio.
Participate in cross training with other analysts within the Decision Support team.
Working with the Strategic Planning & Decision Support team, contribute to the development and improvement and/or automation of:
monthly and/or quarterly forecast process
consolidated financial reporting
key performance indicator reporting
The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience & Education:
Post-secondary education with preference to CFA, CPA, CMA, CGA, CA designations.
IT background and/or experience an asset.
5+ years of experience in financial reporting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting or analysis capacity, including financial analysis modeling experience.
Preference for bilingual (French/English) applicants.
Experience in seniors housing, healthcare or real estate sector preferred.
Experience with Oracle Hyperion HFM, Essbase and Planning preferred.
Experience with Yardi Voyager, Fixed Asset and Payscan an asset.
Experience with web analytical tools and advanced web analytics methodologies (asset).
Experience with Business Intelligence tools (asset).
Skills & Abilities:
Proven analytical skills with a natural interest toward analytical activities and investigation.
Aptitude toward systems and process improvements and re-engineering.
Process improvement and/or automation experience in the planning and analysis area is an asset.
Excellent interpersonal communications and the ability to present ideas in a user friendly format.
Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks; seeks help when needed.
Ability to effectively transfer knowledge.
Strong proficiency in excel is highly preferred.
Must have the ability to be persuasive, encouraging, influential and able to motivate others. This position requires someone that is able to work with various levels of business and technical staff.
