Part-Time Duty Manager

This opportunity is a part-time position with expected hours of 8 - 12 hours per week.

The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing the safety, security and daily operations of the facility. The role provides consistent leadership support to the front line team, ensuring the highest order of operational excellence and accountability and acts as a champion of exceptional customer experiences supporting organizational sustainability.

Reports to: Coordinator, Facility Services


  • Ensure quality assurance, exceptional customer experiences and operational excellence
  • Ensure seamless and coordinated business operations in the absence of leadership staff
  • Ensure operating standards and employee performance is maintained at a high and consistent level
  • Build capacity and act as an enabler to strengthen employees’ judgement, thinking, problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Provide advice and counsel to strengthen the customer experience and business operations
  • Act as a trusted adviser and coach to front line staff and volunteers, continuously challenging and championing standards of excellence to enhance organizational accountability, productivity and sustainability
  • Inform staff about critical operational and business updates and priorities
  • Employ sound troubleshooting, decision making, problem solving and conflict solution skills
  • Actively engage customers, staff, volunteers, tenants and partners
  • Assist with special projects and undertake other duties as directed
  • Facilitate the emergency response and risk management plan
  • Ensure accident and incident report forms are completed and provide necessaryfollow up as required
  • Assist with implementation of Emergency Response Procedures and evacuation plans
  • Review CCTV footage and complete applicable forms for Calgary Police Service regarding incidents and occurrences
  • Monitor and ensure rules and regulations are being followed
  • Assist Facility Attendants when required
  • Provide effective leadership to the entire team in order to build capacity and foster a culture of quality service
  • Act as a role model of teamwork; demonstrate resilience and initiative
  • Reinforce the organization’s vision values, purpose, strategic priorities results/outcomes in all dealings with customers and staff across the organization
  • Keep the leadership team informed of significant opportunities and issues that impact the achievement of organizational goals
  • Lead, mentor and coach the team
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by enforcing all Vivo Health and Safety requirements


  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation, Criminology, Sport Administration or Business preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a recreation or public sector facility
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED Level C certifications
