Full Time Temporary (maternity leave) MOA for Front Reception/Switchboard /Administration

Gateway Healthcare is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to engage in patient care within a high volume, multidisciplinary team. Gateway Healthcare is a large, progressive medical practice located in Abbotsford BC. We are searching for a patient-oriented individual wishing to contribute to our positive work environment, fully engaged in our organizations' purpose.

We are currently looking for a master multi-tasker with excellent communication and computer skills and an upbeat attitude to work at our reception desk and switchboard/administration area. Candidates should be able to provide polite and professional assistance to patients, coworkers and Providers and generally be a helpful and positive presence in the workplace. They should always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each challenge directly. Candidates must be comfortable with computers, general office tasks and excel at both verbal and written communication. Most importantly, you should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of others and work with a high standard of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.

Under the direction of and collaboration with the clinic leadership team, the successful candidate, will operate in accordance with Gateway Healthcare’s vision, purpose and values with an emphasis on Patient Care and Service.

Specific Front Reception Duties:

  • Meet and Greet patients, check in and check out
  • Opening & closing clinic
  • Schedule appointments & appointment maintenance
  • Set up patient in rooms for physicals
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Treatment room set up
  • Measure weight and height, including infant/child measurements
  • Review forms and take payment

Specific Switchboard/Administration Duties:

  • Answer incoming calls, provide pertinent information to the caller and transfer the call to the appropriate source if requested.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Conduct other administrative tasks, including sending faxes and collecting inboxes, processing referrals, booking procedure appointments.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Strong computer skills and a high level of comfort using technology.
  • Experience with Profile EMR, Google Apps, and cloud based storage programs an asset.
  • 4+ years of Medical Office experience.
  • A graduate of a recognized medical office assistance, unit clerk, dental assistant or veterinary assistant program is not a necessity but consideration will be given to the mentioned training.
