School District #60 has a position available for a Labourer - Casual to be hired to the District and assigned to Facilities. Applications will be accepted by the Executive Assistant Human Resources up to noon, July 18, 2019. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor(s), this position is responsible for repair and maintenance of school district grounds and facilities.

Repairs, replaces and maintains, fences, playground equipment, grounds, driveways, sidewalks, parking lots and other district facilities; delivers district furniture, equipment, materials and supplies as required
Follow work orders as assigned by supervisor(s)
Respond to emergency telephone requests (including cleaning up broken glass, leaking water, and removal of dead animals)
Performs preventative maintenance on playground, district equipment, etc.
Organizes work day under the direction of the supervisor(s) by location, priority, work site availability (contacts trades and district staff to ensure the work site is ready)
Operates grounds maintenance equipment such as tractors with attachments, small to medium sized gang mowers, riding mowers, two ton flat deck truck and trailer, bobcat and loader
Performs simple welding repairs to furniture, desks and equipment
Assists trades as required and directed by supervisor(s)
Ensures tools, equipment and assigned vehicles are in good working order (for example, pre-trip vehicle inspections)
Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the work site is safe and secure, that vehicles and equipment are operated according to set standards and the proper safe handling of hazardous materials (W.H.M.I.S). Informs the supervisor(s) or administrator of vandalized equipment
Oversees the work of one or more helpers as assigned
Performs other job related duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor(s)

Hours of Work: Eight (8) hrs/day on an as needed basis
Duties to Commence: Immediately after closing
Work Year Base: 12 months
Commencing Salary: $22.12

Qualifications and Attributes:
Minimum of Grade 10 or equivalency
1 year of experience in grounds and building maintenance
Class 5 drivers licence - with willingness to acquire heavy trailer endorsement
A Criminal Records Search must be completed and results returned to the Administration Office prior to employees starting any position in the District
Successful candidate will be required to complete online safety courses as a condition of probation
