Human Resource Coordinator - Head Office

Reports To: Human Resource Manager

Function: Organize, coordinate and carry out all human resource department projects and processes for the company at the Corporate Head Office

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build upon existing human resource tools including job descriptions, competency profiles, forms and letters to improve efficiency and develop uniformity across the organization
  • Communicate Corporate Human Resource Policies and Procedures across the organization and assist in implementation
  • Support Managers across the organization and review and approve actions related to Human Resource Management
  • Develop and maintain a centralized location for all employee and Human Resource related documents
  • Coordinate the resolution of specific policy related and procedural problems and inquiries
  • Post job vacancies, interview job applicants, review application submissions, evaluate applicant skills and provide recommendations regarding applicant qualifications
  • Maintain records concerning personnel-related data such as hires, promotions, performance appraisals
  • Recommend, develop and maintain human resource, personnel, databases, software systems and manual filing systems
  • Administer compensation, discretionary incentive program and performance management systems
  • Evaluate company culture and provide recommendations for changes to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Monitor staff performance and attendance activities, investigate and understand causes of staff absences
  • Liaise with payroll and benefits administrator and act as backup for payroll, RRSP and benefit administration
  • Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy
  • Provide counsel and assistance across the organization regarding employee relations and organizational matters, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and termination procedures
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Coordinate Employment Equity initiatives and work with payroll and benefits coordinator to create annual report
  • Monitor all medical leaves and long-term disability claims to facilitate return to work
  • Act as Company security officer and coordinate employee background checks
  • Assist HR & EHS Manager to support EHS initiatives
  • Maintain both hard and digital copies of employees' records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Three years related experience
  • Knowledge applicable legislation, including federal and provincial regulations
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, e-mail, and internet applications
