Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge
Minimum time commitment is 2 hours per week on a consistent schedule for a 10-12 month term.

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we ensure our volunteers are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:
Previous skating experience;
Experience building relationships with children, youth and adults;
Customer service experience;
Can think quick on your feet and can problem solve to de-escalate situations;
A love for sport, personal and community development;
Ability to stand / skate for 2 hours;
Able to attend and complete required YMCA trainings which may be at various YMCA locations;
Available evenings and/or weekends is required;
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search;
Three professional references.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
The Skate Attendant will:
Provide a positive experience for children and youth participating in skating programs;
Maintain a safe environment by following policies and procedures to manage risks associate with participation in sport programs;
Build relationships with the skate participants, their families and YMCA staff and volunteers;
Ensure safety, communication and a sense of belonging are high priorities;
Set up and take down equipment as needed;
Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers;
Communicate with Sport Supervisor and/or Duty Manager regarding any situations during shift;
Support the Sport Supervisor by performing administrative tasks associated with the sport programs.
