The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $59,529 - $67,002 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $77,817 is available through annual performance increase.

UC+M leads the development and promotion of a consistent institutional narrative, a compelling and strategic long-term positioning for UVic, and an institutional communications and marketing plan aimed at promoting UVic’s interests in the competition for students, faculty, staff, financial support and institutional reputation. With the direct guidance of the university’s Executive Council, the department works with academic and administrative units as partners, to make the most effective use of university resources to advance unit and institutional priorities.
UC+M is organized into seven highly collaborative teams arranged around its main areas of responsibility: Media Relations and Public Affairs, Strategic Marketing, Internet Strategies, Creative Development, Internal Communications and Publications, Department and Digital Strategies, and Administrative Support.
The University Internet Strategies team provides campus-wide leadership in and is responsible for the university’s internet communications strategies, from supporting university policy through standards, guidelines and procedures to internet-based infrastructure, including websites. The team promotes and facilitates implementation, and supports the use of effective internet communications strategies at the university. The team provides expertise to both centralized and decentralized web resources on campus.
Reporting to the Manager, University Internet Strategies the Web Template Strategies Coordinator maintains the front-end templates in UVic’s website content management system (CMS) for all UVic core-branded websites with the goals of improving the user’s experience and improving UVic’s communication with key audiences. The position works with the UC+M Information Architect and User Experience Specialist (IA/UX), Web Design and Development Coordinator, Strategic Marketing team, developers in University Systems, and partners across campus to develop the templates. The position also works closely with the website coordinators and website administrators across campus to ensure the templates are implemented correctly and that they meet the needs of all units. To assist with this, the templates and components must be documented and communicated for all web stakeholders in a design system.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Diploma in Design plus 3 years of experience with:.
Modern front-end web technology best practices
Web content management systems (enterprise-level)
Independently managing projects
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge requirements include:
Front-end development tools (e.g. NodeJS, Grunt, Gulp, Sass, etc.)
Software: (e.g. Adobe CC suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, xD), Sketch, Sublime Text, etc.)
Project management best practices
Knowledge working in and developing for online CMSs (e.g. Wordpress, Drupal, Cascade, etc.)
Experience building user-centred websites based on audience research, user experience best practices, and stakeholder feedback
Experience planning and maintaining website templates (particularly multi-site templates)
Version control (e.g., manual, Subversion, Git, etc.)
Rapid prototype development and testing
In addition this position requires:
Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Proven track record in achieving project goals on time and producing deliverables of a high quality
Ability to research, review, and test new technologies or methods
