KPMG’s Advisory practice is growing, and we require strong professionals to join our dynamic team in Ottawa. Specifically, our Risk Consulting practice is comprised of business focused advisors and auditors who work to understand our clients’ business issues and to develop and execute approaches to address these challenges. Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our growing Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS) team as a Senior Consultant in Ottawa. The successful candidate will focus primarily on the delivery of internal audit and evaluation services, but also needs to demonstrate flexibility in working on other risk consulting projects as required. You will be responsible for assisting in and performing planning, execution, and report drafting in IARCS engagements, working both as part of larger engagement teams and individually with guidance and review from more senior professionals.

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of client services including:

Assisting in and leading the planning and execution of internal audit and evaluation projects, including conducting client interviews, reviewing and analyzing documents and data, conducting research and benchmarking, facilitation of workshops, and summarizing and reporting on results.
Providing readiness assessments and monitoring progress on various projects/programs/activities.
Communicating (written and verbal) findings and recommendations to the client including technical and business communication to management through the preparation of reports and analyses; preparation of advisory and assurance reports and related deliverables.
Assisting organizations with the delivery of specialized internal audit, evaluation, performance measurement, and regulatory compliance projects.
Conducting internal audit quality assessments.
Contributing to other practice initiatives, including but not limited to, knowledge sharing, HR initiatives, and practice management activities.
Partaking in the development of client engagement plans, deliverables and expectations as well as reviewing the quality of the fieldwork and deliverables prepared by other engagement team members.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a strong mixture of education, experience, skills and behaviours as follows:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college/university in a relevant field (e.g. Business Administration, Commerce, Economics)
Professional designation(s) desirable (e.g. CPA, CIA, CE)
Preference given to candidates with over 3 years’ experience with external audit, internal audit, evaluation or consulting experience.
Aspiration to pursue further relevant education and designations desirable.
Experience with using data analytics to assist with the delivery of engagements is desirable.
Highly motivated, committed self-starter who can prioritize work, multi-task and cope with changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Must be organized and methodical, with strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret information.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and professional maturity; demonstrated ability to effectively interact and build relationships with a diverse group of clients and colleagues.
Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Bilingualism an asset.
Willingness to travel on occasion if and as client needs in other locations arise.
