The role of Maintenance & Systems Operations Technician is for the right person who can work in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform electrical and mechanical installation, modification, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of site equipment, utilities, systems and/or facilities in accordance with established SOPs, GMP guidelines and EH&S policies
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all federal, provincial and local laws/regulations, the Companies' policies, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Performs maintenance procedures according to the established SOP and PM schedule, coordinating parts and service, as required.
Coordinates routine maintenance with Operations to ensure that, whenever possible, maintenance work scheduling does not disrupt production scheduling needs.
Builds & grows existing preventative maintenance program while maintaining a proactive approach to Plant and Equipment maintenance & repair.
Anticipates on-going maintenance needs of equipment and surroundings, focusing on safety.
Identifies, recommends and implements improvements to line procedures, equipment, utilities, systems and/or facilities to enhance the productivity, quality or safety of products, processes and/or procedures.
Performs operational checks on equipment and systems. Detects and investigates variance in performance of equipment, utilities, systems and/ or facilities to ensure proper or enhanced functioning.
Resolves equipment failure. Isolates issues, conducts repairs or sources external resource to conduct repairs.
Completes required compliance documentation, log books, timesheets, etc. when executing duties.
Maintains an assortment of common spare parts.
Coordinates, recommends and/or initiates purchase orders for parts, equipment or spare parts inventory according to Company's purchasing guidelines.
Completes and maintains current training and awareness of related legislated codes, EH&S procedures, SOPs and GMP requirements.
Completes ongoing training to maintain certification and responds to technology change at the Site, as well as improving knowledge of facilities, systems and equipment.
Ensures that maintenance or repair of Production Equipment, Site Facilities, Systems and Utilities are carried out in a timely manner
Responds to "off hours" emergencies, as required and provide essential services coverage during site shutdowns.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An Ontario Trades Certificate or College Diploma in a related HVAC or HRAC Technician discipline is required.
Previous experience in HVAC or HRAC or other related fields preferred (recent graduate will be considered).
Experience working with process equipment such as reactors, chillers, temperature control units, scrubbers, pumps, and compressors is an asset.
Basic Systems Diagnostics: Electrical, Pneumatic, Instrumentation & PLC.
Applied technical skills, knowledge and experience to identify, recommend and implement improvements to equipment, utilities, and facilities.
Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Proficiency with computer based programs including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel.
Good knowledge of Health and Safety; familiar with OHSA
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.§ Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to do work of low to moderate complexity in an area outside of their main trade within established legislation, EH&S guidelines and GMP requirements.
Ability to function in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
