Blue-Con Excavating Ltd. is urgently seeking an experienced HET to join our team. The HET will be a ‘hands on’ contributor within a team of mechanics working both in the shop and field. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive and safe working environment while meeting maintenance and repair needs of our fleet of heavy equipment and trucks. This position reports to the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications:

- Certified Heavy Equipment Technician (will consider 3-4 year apprentice)
- Must be a team player
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
- Reliable and dependable
- Extensive knowledge of John Deere and Caterpillar equipment would be considered an asset
- Ability to prioritize work to minimize impact to production
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical repair specifications and documents
- Minimum 5 years experience in a heavy duty shop/field
- Clean drivers abstract
- Welding experience an asset

Responsibilities:

- Diagnose and perform required repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ensure all repairs and preventative maintenance activities are executed in a timely and cost effective manner
- Ensure all work meets company's high standard of quality
- Maintains a clean and orderly service truck
- Report to and inform Shop Foreman of activities, employee issues, challenges, and other issues that arise
- Contribute to tool box meetings, job hazard assessments, and safety procedures
- Adapt and apply experience to new situations and challenges
