What the role is all about:
If you’re hungry for the challenge of preparing food with minimal supervision at WinSport’s kitchen and banquet facilities, then you may just be the person we’re looking for! You take pride in every dish you prepare with strong attention to detail while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
As a Line Cook, you will be reporting to Executive Sous Chef and expected to prepare and cook food in a standardized and acceptable manner. Personal tools are to be supplied by the incumbent.
Carry out assigned daily food preparation ensuring to follow all safety standards
Supervise, when necessary, other assigned kitchen staff
Working within different areas including; the main kitchen, Garden Café, Food Court and off-site events
Ensure that all areas are kept clean and secure where applicable
Provide a high level of professional service
Must be flexible to work in various departments if required, this includes but not limited to catering preparations in the main kitchen, line cooking in the garden café or food court, and attending off site catering events.
Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
Other duties as assigned
Must be able to work independently after training, as well as be co-operative working in a group/team setting. Solution orientated is a must.
Cook 1/Line Cook: Required 1 year of experience (and/or 1st year Apprentice)
Cook 2: Required 2-3 years’ experience (and/or 2nd year Apprentice)
Cook 3: Required 4-5 years’ experience (and/or 3rd year Apprentice)
Passion for cooking and providing excellent product to our WinSport customers
Strong communication skills and the ability to perform professionally
Valid class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
Frequently expected to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing more than 20 lbs. (without the assistance of mobile, powered equipment)
Lengthy or continuous exposure to heat (temperatures above 30 C/85 F.)
Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is constantly required (i.e., more than 75% of time on the job.)
Prolonged standing or walking and rapid physical work pace, requiring you to maintain the pace that can bring on a moderate amount of physical fatigue
Physical work pace and/or exertion requires somewhat rapid movement and brings on a moderate amount of physical fatigue
