Are you a motivated self-starter passionate about your community library? The Bonnyville Municipal Library is looking for an energetic, empathetic individual to join the team as a Summer Community Programmer. We require a full-time summer employee for approximately 16 weeks to coordinate and develop library programs for children and adults. The ideal candidate is a post-secondary student returning to school in the Fall.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The goal of the Summer Community Programmer position will be to boost the Library's presence in the community and create library programs that are inclusive and diverse. The Summer Community Programmer will work closely with the Library Manager and Library Programmer to:
- Network with community groups
- Create a survey and obtain feedback
- Develop the Summer Reading Program
- Create a survey and obtain feedback
- Network with community groups
- Support library operations as needed
- Work with the Library Programmer to develop inclusive, diverse programs for Fall and Winter 2023
- Much of this position will involves working with children and community members, so strong active listening skills are required. Creative thinkers and small talk pros are very welcome here!
What are we looking for?
- A friendly and positive attitude towards working collaboratively with others.
- Comfortable interacting with children and creating programs with these ages in mind.
- Have a high level of written and spoken communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
- Priority will be given to candidates who have a working knowledge of French
- A background in Library and Information Technology Studies, Education,or Early Learning and Child Care are preferred, but it is not required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are First Aid certified.
