OVERVIEW:
Directs overall sales, marketing, operations, administration and information technology functions for Canada. Sets sales and marketing strategies and is responsible for managing the successful execution of these strategies and the profitable performance of Canada. Has overall responsibility for finance, budgeting, operations, strategic planning and for the coordination of human resources, safety, security, environmental compliance and information systems in Canada.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Directs Sales, Operations, Marketing, Information Systems and Financial activities in order to accomplish corporate objectives and strategies.
Provides in-depth analysis of current and anticipated business conditions affecting company products, customer requirements and the position of company’s products in Canada including, but not limited to, technology requirements, sales, prices, and marketing practices of other competitors. Recommends the appropriate short and long-range sales and marketing plans.
Reviews pricing policies and marketing strategies in the areas of D2C site, advertising, trade shows, web/digital media, public relations, etc.to attain adequate profit margins and sales volume as required to maintain profitable operations, achieve sales growth goals, and to enhance the company’s position in Canada.
Develops plans for Direct to Consumer (“D2C”) website, execute those plans and leads internal and external teams to drive profitable sales growth through the D2C site.
Plans, directs, and coordinates dealer representative organizations engaged in the sale and promotion of Company products.
Leads the St. Jean-based “Case Center” to be a “best in class” provider of custom case solutions to Commercial and Government customers.
Oversees trade show participation, sales training, and sales promotional activity to promote the sale of company products.
Oversees the planning and implementation of periodic sales and/or partner meetings to educate, train, and stimulate sales production and to keep sales representative and/or dealer-customers aware of new strategies, polices, and products.
Builds and leads a “best in class” Canadian organization which includes resources to service strategically important geographies, customers and market sectors.
Assesses each team member’s performance on an ongoing basis through periodic and annual reviews, provides guidance and takes appropriate action to ensure that business goals are consistently met.
Travels frequently to all offices, plants and facilities to communicate corporate messages, lead & motivate personnel and drive constant improvement in all areas.
Exercises independent judgment and decision-making and is evaluated in terms of overall enterprise effectiveness, achieving sales and profitability goals.
Oversees the Safety, ISO 9001 and Environmental Quality Management System (EQMS) program in place for the Canadian operations & ensures that safety, quality and environmental objectives are being met.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of International Business.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
University Degree in related field or relevant experience with 10+ years in a General Management role or similar capacity within growing organization(s).
In-depth knowledge of Sales, Marketing, Operations, Information Technology and Financial management techniques.
In-depth knowledge on the dynamics of the Canadian markets, Company sales strategies & approaches.
Must demonstrate solid judgment, accomplish goals and champion ethical business practices at all times.
Solid digital marketing acumen and understanding of the Direct to Consumer business model.
Must demonstrate leadership skills and interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, with a demonstrated ability to bring together virtual teams and build consensus at all levels of the organization.
Must be a self-motivated, proactive, focused high-achiever who consistently delivers results and has the ability to make rapid adjustments in response to industry changes.
Demonstrated success recruiting, building, developing, coaching and retaining a highly motivated, synchronized sales, operations and administrative team with a sense of urgency and a drive to excel.
Must have the ability to assess personnel requirements and organize, plan, staff and lead the Canadian operations; must be able to translate Company objectives into executable plans and effectively communicate and drive them.
Must be fluent in English and have highly developed English writing and verbal presentation skills,
Must have highly developed negotiation, analytical, math and organizational skills.
Proficient in spreadsheet, word-processing, project management and presentation software.
Proven track record of exceeding business objectives year over year and completing assignments within time frames established by the V.P. of International Business.
Proficiency in language(s) other than English would be very beneficial to this position; French preferred.

BONUS POINTS FOR:
Master’s in Business Administration or advanced degree/certification.
Experience selling to military and/or Aerospace & Defense Contractors in the Canadian region preferred.

Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, with final authority for approving pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.
Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican’s brand and reputation.
Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, frequently.
