Candidate will ideally reside in Edmonton or Calgary region. This position will travel to the Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg regions, with some travel to Atlantic Canada.

The Regional Director, Operations (RDO) will be a hands-on member of the leadership team, responsible for the management and overall operations of the Parts and Service departments within assigned branches. The RDO will set direction and provide support to the Service and Parts Managers to ensure optimal overall branch performance and results.

Key responsibilities include:
Provide leadership to assigned teams by directing, managing, supporting and motivating employees
Develop annual operating plans (AOP) for each branch aligned with overall company objectives
Develop and implement key parts and service strategies across the regions to support the achievement of the AOP
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best-practice processes to optimize the customer experience
Foster strong customer relations and identify opportunities for branch growth
Identify and understand market and customer differences across the regions and revise strategies accordingly

Develop and drive the execution of branch business plans
Direct and guide the Parts and Service teams to support them in achieving key performance targets
Motivate and engage team members
Act as a role model and consistently demonstrate the company’s core values
Clearly communicate strategy and performance expectations to all team members
Provide formal performance reviews for all direct reports and consistently provide informal feedback to all team members
Ensure a safe and productive work environment for the branches

Adhere to the company’s fiscal policies and requirements while developing and implementing business plans
Communicate branch financial updates as required
Oversee and be responsible for asset allocations at each branch
Analyze branch financials and make recommendations to GM regarding opportunities for improvements and/or resource requirements
Authorize expenditures for all direct reports and be accountable for the overall profitability of each branch within assigned region

Branch Operations:
Collaborate with Service and Parts Managers to analyze processes and implement improvements as needed to ensure optimal customer satisfaction, productivity and results
Build and foster strong relationships with both internal and external clients
Collaborate with HR to plan and ensure adequate staffing of each branch and to participate in recruitment efforts as required
Collaborate with HR to monitor and address employee performance issues
Promote and ensure adherence to all company Policies and Procedures
Oversee the general maintenance and upkeep of each branch facility to ensure a safe workplace and make recommendations for capital assets as required
Conduct regular Management meetings to ensure alignment with objectives, review branch data and discuss new business items

On a monthly basis analyze branch results and update the Leadership Team regarding successes, challenges and action items
On a quarterly basis provide a report of branch operating results and update budget as necessary
Conduct regular assessments of the local branch markets and report on any competitive updates or trends that may impact branch results
Provide a business plan annually for each branch


Post-Secondary Degree in Business or a related program OR equivalent professional experience
10+ years progressive leadership experience in related roles
5+ years’ experience in the heavy equipment or related industry
Strong understanding of the Service and/or Parts operations within a dealership environment
Experience working with Municipal or other government agencies
Advanced experience using MS Office products
Proficient with work order management systems or ERPs
Experience developing business plans and managing a P&L
Experience leading a team of Parts and/or Service employees
Experience evaluating Parts and Service department performance and implementing solutions to improve results
Exceptional communication skills
High level of customer service skills
Exceptional time management skills and results-oriented approach to work
Ability to self-motivate and optimize time
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong data analysis skills
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with those within and outside of the organization (employees of all levels, external partners, stakeholders, etc.)
Ability to travel frequently across Canada
Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
