Job Description:
To manage and develop the Systems Engineering Team to ensure that the business has the adequate skills, processes and personnel to deliver the near term and strategic objectives. Act as a lead Systems/Project Engineer on allocated programs.
Line management responsibilities and resource allocation.
Managing the Systems Engineering Team, its resources, knowledge, skills, processes, procedures and tools to align with the current and future needs of the business.
Developing the Systems Engineering Team by promoting and applying best practice and engineering excellence.
Responsible for employment matters, working with HR where appropriate to recruit new talent, and manage the team effectively in accordance with the company's policies.
Liaising with Project Managers and other stakeholders to determine future resource needs.
Supporting Systems Engineer tasks on allocated projects throughout the systems lifecycle.
Providing independent review of systems engineering documentation and designs.
Championing more effective Systems Engineering Tools.
Supporting bids and proposals.
Supporting product line development plans and technology road-mapping activities.
Supporting definition and monitoring of annual operating budget.

Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Engineering Physics, Electronics, Computer, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline
10+ years of Supervisory experience
10+ years of Full Lifecycle Systems Engineering
9+ years of Systems Engineering Lead/ Project lead
The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.

Desired Skills:
Master's Degree an asset, especially in Software, Systems, Industrial, or Underwater Acoustics Engineering
Experience of Maritime Domain
Experience of Underwater Warfare Domain
Willing to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.
Willing to coach direct reports to help them further develop in their own roles and levels of expertise.
Willing to develop schedules and estimates for systems engineering activities.
Willingness to identify/ quantify risks, and identify/ execute mitigation plans.
Willingness to develop Systems Engineering Processes, Procedures.
Willing to critique at System Requirements & Design Reviews.
Willingness to communicate and present effectively at all levels within the organisation and
Willing to manage Systems Engineering forward load.
Willingness to lead and conduct Systems Engineering Activities throughout the systems lifecycle.
Skilled with Microsoft Office
