BCIT’s Information Technology Systems is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Database Administrator (Senior Systems Analyst). As a member of our Solution Delivery team, the Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the Oracle database environments are built and maintained at optimum levels to provide a stable environment for enterprise applications at the institute. Working with our other DBAs, your work will directly support our Ellucian Banner ERP systems (versions 8.x and 9.x), deploying and administering both Ellucian- and BCIT-generated code.
As a member of our DBA team, you will administer, create, troubleshoot and support Oracle databases and related software. Knowledge of other applications, such as Ellucian Banner ERP, that are typical in post-secondary environments will be very beneficial.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance, patching and upgrading of Oracle 12c databases.
Perform database backup and recovery, database tuning and performance management.
Assist in applying patches and upgrades.
Create and maintain accurate and concise documentation related to the installation, configuration and maintenance of all supported systems.
Participate in all areas of the systems development life cycles.
Participate in projects, including planning, executing and closing phases.
Design and develop scripts to automate processes.
Write code as necessary to meet specified business requirements.
Work independently and within the team to carry out tasks from start to finish.
Maintain security of Banner/Oracle systems.

Minimum two-year diploma in Computer Systems or bachelor’s degree in communications, science, business; and minimum six years of current, practical experience, of which at least four demonstrate database administration experience, preferably in an educational setting.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Salary Range $65,835 to $87,365 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
