TITLE: Application Administrator – NCR Banking (Payment Solutions)

LOCATION: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

GRADE: 09

The NCR Banking Application Administrator is part of a team of associates supporting NCR’s suite of hosted banking related solutions, including APTRA Passport, and TX Foundation Suite. NCR’s solutions are installed in multi-server environments, and can be multi-platform (multiple operating systems and combination of multiple server types). The incumbent is required to perform all technical activities associated with operating and supporting the NCR applications integrated within the different hardware and software components for our customers.

The successful Application Administrator will be directly accountable for customer satisfaction as it relates to our system stability and usability. The ability to properly communicate and set customer expectations, deliver on commitments, and manage through multiple high-priority issues simultaneously is critical.

This involves:
Assisting our customer’s end users with troubleshooting issues identified in production or test environments, including completing closed loop corrective analysis to prevent issues from recurring;
Applying maintenance patches and NCR software updates and other related third party products as required;
Executing SQL scripts to assist our customers as needed;
Guiding customers on how to most effectively use our software;
Making parameter changes to support new customer specific requirements;
Documenting changes and following change control processes;
Implementing new customers in the hosted or SaaS environments, including gathering requirements, configuration changes and evaluating and implementing environmental changes required to support the projected new volumes;
Implementing effective application monitoring techniques to ensure the environment and applications are running as effectively as possible.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

a baccalaureate or associates degree in a technology related discipline; or
a post-secondary diploma or certificate and a proven track record of working with appropriate technology components
The ability to provide technical guidance to both technical and non-technical people
Familiarity with LINUX, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Windows 10 Operating Systems
Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
The application administration team together must have 24/7 coverage for high impact issues outside of business hours. Employees are expected to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, in order to have a qualified administrator at the ready at all hours.
must be able to work with a geographically dispersed team, handle periods of high pressure, and managed multiple high priority tasks while meeting customer expectations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Working with virtual servers, using a VPN, using remote desktop/SSH to remotely access servers
Working with load balancers, firewalls and web servers
Relational databases, especially Microsoft SQL Server, including being able to run basic SQL queries
Proficiency with IBM Websphere and the deployment of three tier web-based applications
Knowledge of cloud based technologies, including Docker containers and Kubernetes for container orchestration
Demonstrated communication skills aimed at direct customer facing interactions. The incumbent must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
