Reporting to the Manager, Service; the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the day to day planning and coordinating of fleet and maintenance activities for all equipment on site; ensuring safe, efficient and economical operations. Responsible for scheduling fleet maintenance and repair; and for planning the detailed work steps for work to be performed, ordering material, setup of work scope for execution, field coordination and close-out.

1. Safety and Environment.

Ensures all activities are in accordance with O.H.S.A. regulations as well as consistent with company policies and procedures.
Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques; operational procedures; and equipment use.
2. Maintenance Planning.

Promotes maximum Maintenance effectiveness by providing staff support for supervision in the planning and scheduling of work.
Determines job scope and limiting conditions by field checks and consultation with both Operations and Maintenance supervision.
Reviews initial job priority and relative status to other work orders before filing in accordance with formal procedures.
Analyzes work for methods and craft requirements, issuing sub-orders and maintaining total job coordination responsibility.
Prepares detailed estimates using simplified maintenance standards, historical standards and experience based approximations.
Identifies and secures as appropriate, all technical information, simple non-engineered sketches, safety measures, utility requirements, production clearances, etc. • Reviews work order documentation to verify accuracy and completeness.
Maintains accurate fleet records and maintenance schedule; logs equipment hours for service and costing.
Provide technical text on Field and Shop Workorder numbers.
Work order accuracy and details to assist service invoicing.
Assist with SMS credit department requests.
3. Scheduling.

Interacts with Service Department; reviews status of current and future jobs; makes any planning and scheduling adjustments to meet commitments and keeps the customer and Supervisors informed of progress.
4. Warranty.

Work with Supervisors to identify potential warranty repairs, create appropriate W/O’s in eXtend and gather relevant warranty documentation requirements for submittal to BP & non BP organizations for recovery. Supply appropriate documentation as required to Warranty Administrator. Ensure any warranty credits due are applied to the Customers account.
5. Reporting.

Prepares and distributes monthly performance and availability reports to SMS Equipment & the customer.
Monitor Weekly Error Code reports and Machine Inspection reports (contact customers and PSSR).
6. Backup Field/Shop dispatch and Supervisor as required.

Supervises the quality and quantity of work performed and sees that the standards of performance are maintained.
Plans daily work schedules for trades people establishing priorities with the assistance and input of the Service Supervisors.
7. Contributes to the Branch by accomplishing other related results and duties as required.

Position is responsible for the day to day planning and scheduling of fleet and maintenance activities to maintain and repair mining/ construction/ forestry equipment for customer’s operations.

Qualifications:
Requires journey level trade certification or equivalent with minimum of 5-7 years’ industry experience.

Thorough knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
Understands routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Excellent computer skills (i.e. Excel, Access & WORD) organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Strong knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
