Specific accountabilities

The Marketing Advisor, Retail reports to the Director of Strategic Marketing Operations within the retail business unit. He or she works along side the Project Management Office Lead (PMO Lead), the Campaign Manager and Property Marketing Leads to facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of shared marketing initiatives of a particular cluster of shopping centres spread across the country.

The Marketing Advisor, Retail, plays an instrumental role to facilitate collaboration and communications among the various marketing teams (corporate and properties) and external partners (e.g. agencies), effectively contributing to a truly integrated and seamless operating model for the marketing group. The Marketing Advisor, Retail, is a drive belt between the different marketing teams as well as between strategy and execution.

Strategy, Planning & Budgeting:
Support the PMO Lead in developing and deploying the process, timeline and tools for the annual marketing planning and budgeting process;
Support the Director, Strategic Marketing Operations in the development of the marketing plan for the cluster with input and collaboration from Property Marketing Leads and Shopper Marketing (digital team);
Ensure Property Marketing Leads are completing their marketing plans as per established timeline, coordinate review sessions and provide support with planning and budgeting tools as needed;
Work with the Director, Strategic Marketing Operations to prepare the quarterly performance reviews to report on progress against marketing plans and post-mortems of key marketing initiatives.

Shared Initiatives:
Contribute to the generation of new shared marketing initiatives (event/campaign) ideas for the cluster;
Support the Director, Strategic Marketing Operations to set the objectives for the initiative and prepare the strategic brief for the agency;
Lead the development of a shared plan for the initiative, including objectives, KPIs, tactics and budget with input from the Property Marketing Leads;
Define the omni-channel customer experience and media plan for the initiatives with input and support from the Campaign Manager and Property Marketing Leads;
Support the PMO Lead in establishing the project timeline and ensuring that key milestones and due dates are met;
Prepare the creative brief for the agency and validate with the Director, Strategic Marketing Operations;
Review and approve creative concepts developed by the property marketing teams and Shopper Marketing to make sure they adhere to brand guidelines;
Perform regular reviews of adherence to brand guidelines and provide feedback and assistance to adjust as required;
Work with the Market Research team to enable consumer and tenant research for shared initiatives (e.g. experiential event survey) in order to assess performance;
Evaluate initiative’s performance with input from property-level post-mortems and develop an overall consolidated post-mortem for the shared initiative. Identify and communicate improvements opportunities for the future.

National Programs:
Support national program owners to plan and deploy national programs (e.g. Gift Card, Products & Platforms, tourism, etc...) within the cluster;
Act as a change agent and drive belt between program owners and the property marketing teams. Collect input from property marketing teams and offer training and support as required.

Workflows & Tools:
Collect and provide input to the PMO Lead to contribute to the development and improvement of workflows and management tools;
Act as super user within the cluster for workflows and tools, providing training and support to property marketing teams as required.

Key requirements
University degree expected (however a combination of marketing education and related industry experience will be considered);
A minimum of 5 years of marketing experience in roles that involved branding, experiential marketing events and omni-channel campaigns;
Experience working on dynamic projects with geographically dispersed teams;
Experience working on omni-channel campaigns with touchpoints in digital and physical spaces;
Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude demonstrated by a track record of collaborating with stakeholders to successfully deploy marketing initiatives (e.g.: stakeholder adoption, engagement, etc.);
Well-developed business acumen and ability to see the bigger picture;
Strong attention to detail and well organized;
Excellent communication and proven presentation skills;
Ability to identify new opportunities to generate efficiencies;
Experience with MS Office Suite, including proficient knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Experience in Tourism will be considered a strong asset;
Fluency in English (spoken and written) required. French will be considered an asset.
