Position Summary

We are seeking reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistants to join our cohesive Lab team within the friendly community of Princeton, BC.

The Princeton General Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital in the Okanagan health service area. Located south west of Penticton, the hospital offers services including acute care, laboratory, and 24 hour emergency.

The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the hospital, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.

Shift times are 07:00 to 15:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 06:30 to 14:30 with out of hours on-call.

Grade 12
Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Driver’s License
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
