Assistant Manager, Benefits Administration
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Client Services, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the administration of client benefit plans for employees and pensioners and acts as an intermediary between the insurer and our clients.
Oversee the quality control of deliverables and meet deadlines.
Coordinate or participate in special projects (annual enrolment, certification of dependents, rate changes) as well as new client implementations, as required by the department.
Identify and improve non-value-added activities related to client assignments or projects.
Supervise the preparation and transmission of files containing benefits data for client payroll purposes, as well as eligibility files for insurers.
Keep administrative procedures up-to-date and document any changes (example: Workbooks).
Help train new team members.
Meet deadlines by appropriately managing and prioritizing assigned tasks.
Keep abreast of and apply best business practices, including privacy standards and peer review.
Help the manager manage the team.
A successful Assistant Manager requires the following core qualifications and skills:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration
University degree or the equivalent work experience
Attention to detail, initiative, organizational skills and a professional attitude
Familiarity with provincial and federal legislation governing benefits administration
Ability to understand and use current software and hardware tools and highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Bilingual (English and French) with excellent oral and written communication skills
Good customer service skills
Ability to manage and motivate a small team
Ability to manage and supervise most of the work for a client or project
Initiative and good problem-solving skills
Proven leadership abilities, organizational skills and flexibility in the management of multiple projects
Job Grade: MS4
