Job Summary

As the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) grows, we need better technology to handle higher volumes, more complex investment strategies, and new ways of interacting with our business clients. The Investment Solutions Group (ISG) is responsible for supporting the investment management team at HOOPP and is currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst for its Real-Estate and Private Equity Team.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for requirement gathering, data analysis, process improvement, automation, testing, and relevant documentation for various deliverables, working within an agile environment. The applicant has a solid understanding of the commercial real-estate business, along with industry standard applications such as MRI, Yardi and Argus. Experience with Taliance and Investran, would be an asset.

The Role:
We are building on our data warehouse to include Real Estate and Private Equity datasets. We will be working closely with our clients in building out ways to explore data through a reporting portal, while automating any manual processes along the way. There are also several implementations that the candidate will be a part of, including Risk Management, Accounting Solutions, CRM and Forecasting.

Work in a highly agile team, collaborate with developers and other business analysts, share information, and provide inputs to design and build solutions.
Build relationships with the investment management team at HOOPP (Real Estate and Private Equity) and participate in all phases of the solution delivery life cycle including planning, requirements definition, prototype solutions, demos, test cases and support for the solution.
Manage small to medium sized solutions, including minor enhancements, reports development, and operational support.
Identify key opportunities to provide effective and innovative technical solutions, based on your knowledge and experience of the products and industry.
Support the Product Owner and contribute to the technology roadmap / vision for the real estate and private equity systems.
Critically de-scope unnecessary features and get to Minimal Viable Product.
Quickly learn and support legacy solutions.

Who you are:
7+ years of experience in the commercial real-estate industry, In-depth knowledge of data and the relationship between the data points
Experience in solution development life cycle including: design, working with systems (MRI, Yardi, Argus, Investran), and application development
Deep understanding of intersection of business and technology to readily engage in issue resolution and investigation for complex financial challenges relating to systems/reporting.
Ability to wear multiple hats – Play multiple hands-on roles e.g. solution visioning, analysis, sizing, QA testing, prod promotions, production support.
Proven track record of building trust with and Mentoring/Growing Analysts. As a leader in the team, you will be expected to be a support pillar, and help elevate the level of the team.
Demonstrated proficiency in leading delivery on major features and complex projects. Ability to parse out key details and focus for cost vs. benefit and knowing when we may need to descope to ensure milestones are met.
Exceptional communication skills with stakeholders and external vendors
Experience working in an agile team and demonstrable knowledge of agile roles
Technical aptitude/mindset and knowledge of SQL and data modelling/relational data.
Ability to make decisions without all the information available (work in ambiguity).
Ability to overcome obstacles, highly analytical with strong consulting and problem-solving ability. Tenacity to identify the root cause of problems is essential.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness is extremely important along with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Exposure to Python would be an asset
Nice to have: CPA or CFA
