A quick snapshot…
The Senior Full-stack Software Developer will use modern tools, techniques, and methods to design and develop new applications, components and services built on our next generation cloud-native commerce platform.
Why it's a big deal...
You will be working on new and exciting things around here at Aptos. We are building out a cloud-native, mobile-first, and unified commerce services platform. This will enable retailers to respond to changing market demands across all customer touchpoints. It is designed to foster an active supporting community of retailers, software partners and system integrators.
Are you the person we're looking for?
Proven success using key technologies and frameworks. This one's important. You don't just know these technologies and frameworks -- you've challenged the processes and demonstrated excellent judgement in selecting the best methods to design, code, and test applications. Repeatedly. Be prepared to share your experiences -- we're looking forward to hearing them! The tech stack we are looking for includes some of the following:
- Microservices architecture
- React and React Native
- API design
- NoSQL databases
- JWT/OAuth2/OpenID Connect
- iOS/Android/Windows UWP
- SPA web apps
- KubernetesDocker/Docker Swarm
- CI/CD and DevOps
Domain expertise. While deep technical mastery over the technologies outlined above is the primary success indicator for this role, applicable domain knowledge would make a strong candidate even stronger. Any background in retail, high-end transactional systems or the commerce space, such as eCommerce, point of sale (POS), or with payment, trading or banking solutions would be a big plus.
Resourcefulness and application. At Aptos, we have a pioneering spirit -- when we have questions, we find answers; when we're faced with challenges, we find solutions. We turn to a variety of resources, including our own colleagues, our professional network, the Internet, articles and books -- whatever helps us get the job done. But's it's not just about using a variety of resources to gain knowledge -- it's also about applying that knowledge to other areas of the job or business where it might make sense. You are proactive about ongoing learning to continually improve your knowledge about Aptos software and our customers' needs. You find trends in customer questions and work to resolve repeating issues quickly and efficiently.
Big picture thinker with laser focus. You have a unique ability to see both the forest and the trees. It's what sets you apart from the rest. You start with a good understanding of the broader strategy, zoom in to assess one particular aspect of that strategy, and then zoom back out to see how changes to a particular area will affect the broader process.
Quality orientation. You rarely make mistakes because you have good processes in place to ensure that every last detail is correct. There's hardly an error that gets past you -- even when you're under pressure to complete something in a very short timeframe. You take ownership and provide well thought out approaches to see all the details through.
Team Player. You work well as part of a cross functional agile team that deliveries regularly and reliably with quality. You are comfortable with distributed teams and collaborating across geographies.
Here's what will give you an edge…
Programming framework/language aficionado. You take courses in your spare time to learn new languages and frameworks to familiarize yourself with new concepts. Or, even if you know certain languages inside and out, if something stumps you, you take the time to find solutions and conquer the problem.
Passion. We know it when we see it. Passion is not about saying how much you love what you do in your most excited voice. Passion is revealed in your truest self. It's about what you've accomplished; how you want to grow; the ideas you have; your philosophies. It's demonstrating through your words and your actions that you truly believe in what you do -- and where you work. That it matters to you. And that's pretty cool.
Initiative. You don't wait around for things to happen or for your manager to tell you what to do. You're not only proactive about completing your own work, but when you sense the need to introduce an idea that will benefit the team or the organization -- even if it's outside your scope of work -- you take it on and own it. That also goes back to having a pioneering spirit.
Related experience. Experience working in an Agile environment, would be great. If you have contributed to Open Source projects or are active in the dev community through Stackoverflow and Github, please let us know!
