Training and Development Specialist –Bilingual
Contract Position April 2020 to August 2022

Geneva Centre for Autism is an international leader in the development and delivery of clinical intervention services and training. We offer a wide range of clinical services which are determined individually for each person with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All of our clinical services are supported by a multi-disciplinary team of trained, experienced and empathic professionals including speech-language pathologists, behaviour analysts, therapists, early childhood educators, occupational therapists, developmental paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers. In addition, our staffing team is supported by a Professional Advisory Council which is composed of world-renowned clinicians, blending their expertise with ours. Consequently, Geneva Centre for Autism is able to provide the highest quality of clinical service to our clients.

Reporting to the Manager, Training and Development, the Training and Development Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering in class and online training programs and services. As a facilitator, they will be comfortable with local and out-of-town travel, and using their clinical background and experience in Autism and Applied Behaviour Analysis to engage the audience and enhance their learning experience. As a content developer/SME, they will work closely with the GCA’s third party partner and internal stakeholders to develop programs in support of the GCA’s mission, vision and values.

This is a bilingual (English/French) position, and will require you to present entire workshops, as well as respond to audience questions, fluently in both English and French. As a content developer, you will be required to read, write, and quality assure written and spoken course materials in both English and French.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver impactful and engaging training programs
  • As a subject-matter- expert, design and develop training modules
  • Systematically and periodically, review and update training programs, manuals and tools to ensure they remain current
  • Recognize market needs and recommend learning solutions.
  • Continuously strive to improve processes and the customer experience
  • Work closely with and collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful implementation of new and updated learning materials
  • Represent Sonderly on external and internal committees as assigned
  • Represent Sonderly for clients and families, staff, and vendors where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Fluent spoken and written French required
  • Recognized post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Child Studies, Disability Studies etc.)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience training including developing and/or reviewing learning modules
  • Solid understanding of Adult Learning Principles
  • Experience providing direct support to youth or adults with disabilities/complex needs
  • Experience reading and delivering behaviour intervention plans with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • A willingness to collaborate, share knowledge/experiences, be adaptable, and resources with team members
  • Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and manage time wisely
  • Proven ability to anticipate challenges and be decisive, mitigate risk and have no problem making decisions quickly in support of operational requirements
  • Top notch attention to detail and focus on the smallest of details while maintaining a clear vision and action plan to accomplish the overall operational intent
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) or willingness to obtain
  • Able to travel locally, nationally and internationally.
