The Small Engines Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of company small engines and equipment, as well as assisting with medium to heavy duty equipment.
Repair and maintain small engines and equipment.
Determine parts required for repair and maintenance of small engines and equipment.
Ensure the timely performance of small engine repairs and maintenance based on the direction and schedule created by the Shop Foreman.
Inspect small engines and ensure adherence to necessary mechanical and safety requirements.
Fill out maintenance reports and other required documentations.
Anticipate potential mechanical issues and make recommendations.
Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the shop.
Provide excellent customer service to drivers, superintendents, managers and other applicable staff.
Willingness and ability to assist and complete repairs on medium to heavy duty trucks and equipment.
Other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.
Physically able to handle weight of up to 50 lbs.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate technical requirements to technical and non-technical colleagues.
Able to read, write and make necessary numerical calculations.
Proven decision making and critical thinking skills.
Experience with job task planning and organizing.
Reliable, punctual and a team player.
Open to continuous learning.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
Own CSA approved steel toed work boots, tools and toolbox.
Demonstrate an aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair small engines and equipment.
Minimum 2 years experience as a Small Engines Mechanic.
Class 5 driver’s licence required.
Class 3 driver’s licence would be an asset.
Completion of vocational or technical training credentials in the Technician/Mechanic Trade.
Inter-provincial Red Seal designation is considered an asset.
