The CMHA CEH Community Housing Outreach Worker will work with individuals who need support and navigation services, including being at-risk of being homeless, in the Colchester East Hants area. Under project funding provided by Affordable Housing Nova Scotia and a private funder, the successful applicant will ensure appropriate and timely advocacy and referrals in order to prevent homelessness and will utilize local resources and programs to assist individuals living with mental health concerns.
The Community Outreach Worker will be responsible to provide presentations and workshops upon request from community organizations and businesses. This may include support to HR and the development of resources and programs for various businesses in our community.
The position is for a total of 40 hours per week beginning with an hourly rate of $17.43, $18.43 at the six month mark and $19.43 after successful completion of a one year probationary period.
The Community Outreach Worker is an important part of the CMHA CEH Outreach Team and requires sound judgement and a mature and professional approach at all times. Strong personal and professional boundaries, integrity and the ability to work successfully without supervision are essential to this position, as well as a strong passion to empower others to improve their lives.
Applicants should have graduated from a post-secondary program, with work experience specific to homelessness, poverty or transitional support. Direct mental health support experience is considered an asset.
