SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Environmental Planning and Management (EPM) Division as a Project Coordinator (Competition #20-02-0360) based out of our Calgary, AB office. This position will be primarily office based but may require limited field work.

Job Duties:
You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Manager/Project Manager, Environmental Planning and Management (EPM) on all matters. The primary duties of this position will be focused on tracking, scheduling, and other coordination tasks associated with environmental assessments in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. You will be responsible for safety compliance tracking, daily field report review, data analysis, and client relationship building. You will also be responsible for technical reporting and support for regulatory permit applications or other deliverables as required on a project-specific basis. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior and intermediate staff on field survey techniques and technical report writing. You will work closely with members of the EPM division on a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects and programs including wildlife, wetlands, aquatics and environmental inspection. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost efficiency and timeliness of deliverables.

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development professionals, and an in-house IT department.

Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary, fast paced project team environment and able to undertake a variety of project related tasks related to the EPM division.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry in Alberta (AB) British Columbia (BC), and/or Saskatchewan (SK)

University Degree or College Diploma from a recognized institution (preferably with a science-based specialization)

Professional designation would be considered an asset (e.g. P.Biol, P. Ag.)

Previous experience coordinating field crews and completing document/progress/cost tracking with a preference given to large-scale linear disturbance programs

Working knowledge of current environmental regulations and permitting requirements for small, medium, and large-scale upstream oil and gas, linear disturbance, renewables, mining, and transportation projects

Knowledge of working of different regulatory agencies, including (but not limited to) Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP), Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment (ENV), Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Indian Oil and Gas Commission (IOGC), Special Areas Board (SAB), and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)

Previous field program experience in wildlife, wetlands, pre-disturbance assessments, aquatics, and/or vegetation ecology would be an asset

Experience designing and planning projects using the Alberta Sensitive Species Inventory Guidelines, the AER’s Directives 035 & 056, AEP’s Wildlife Directives for both wind energy and solar energy projects, the SAB’s Environmental Review Form, as well as IOGC’s Environmental Review and Audit forms as well as Saskatchewan Species Detection protocols and associated guideline would be considered an asset
