Are you a technically minded BA who loves meeting with the business to gather requirements and then configure/build a solution for your customer? Reporting to the Information Manager in the Information Technology Department, this IT Business Analyst serves as a “solution analyst” leveraging Microsoft SaaS Applications (SharePoint Online, Teams, Power Platform, Forms, Stream, etc.) to deliver solutions focused on the Information Management portfolio of projects which includes Electronic Document and Records Management Solutions (EDRMS), business process automation and other efficiencies leveraged by Office 365. This role gathers business requirements, configures and manages SaaS services staying current and constantly sharing what is learned with this ever-evolving platform. This IT Business Analyst has responsibility for Microsoft SaaS application configuration; providing innovative solutions within the O365 platform and collaborating with IT management to ensure operational security, maintenance and governance. This position will also provide business process analysis toward the creation of system requirements to meet the business needs of the customer and will support the larger enterprise information management program including the implementation and ongoing support of the EDRMS.
Reporting to the Business Solutions Manager in the Information Technology Department, this IT Business Analyst serves as an “outcomes analyst” leveraging the Microsoft 365 suite of tools (SharePoint Online, Teams, Power Platform, Forms, Stream, etc.) to assess business project requests, create user stories and personas, and engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. This role gathers requirements, leads ideation, and works closely with Project Outcome Specialists and the Business Solutions Manager to develop innovative and impactful business processes and solutions, as well as participating in, and championing, a hybrid AGILE approach to project execution. This position will also provide business process analysis toward the creation of system requirements to meet the business needs of the customer and will support the larger enterprise automation goals through modern workplace principles and methods of engagement.

Coordinate, plan, and participate in the evaluation of business and system requirements, and business process reviews. Make recommendations for business architecture improvements to meet the City’s business and information needs more efficiently.
Lead and coordinate projects to review, analyze and evaluate business processes and enhance their efficiency to meet corporate strategies; liaise with affected City departments to determine business requirements; develop and document the scope, objectives, and expected benefits of projects.
Act as Project Manager for business solutions projects; coordinate departmental, IT and external resources to ensure timely, effective implementation of projects. Schedule and monitor the work of consultants. Lead the evaluation, assessment, and co-ordination of system changes to improve the efficiency of corporate systems and business processes. Make recommendations and implement business process and systems changes while ensuring adherence to technological and accounting best practices and standards; apply and adhere to project management principles and the system development life cycle.
Re-engineer and streamline existing business processes for improved efficiency to eliminate or reduce duplication and redundancy; research best practices and leading edge options for business process solutions and technology; use judgement to link, translate and map business requirements to corporate and departmental strategies and goals.
Use advanced modelling and analytical tools to provide technical expertise in all aspects of customer solution; translate, coordinate and develop business requirements and reports into technical objectives and specifications for development teams. Facilitate and follow-up during implementation and testing stages; provide input into the selection of products, strategies and designs by leading user committees and consulting with user groups. Determine needs assessment and represent client issues at committee tables; communicate to customers through presentations and workshops; represent the department on corporate projects and committees as required.
Create and coordinate lesson plans, training tools, and information binders to ensure users can understand and implement new strategies. Prepare reports and develop documentation of both technical and non-technical nature to a broad range of users; ensure manual and software processes comply with accounting and auditing requirements.

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Organize and prioritize work.
Understand and apply the principles and methods of business process analysis system development life cycle, project management and enterprise architecture and computerized accounting systems.
Advanced level operation of current City advanced specialty software.
Interpret related policies and regulations.
Provide technical guidance and advice to user departments.
Research and analyze needs and facilitate meetings and workshops.
Maintain accurate records.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Deal effectively with the public and outside agencies.
Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science. (4 years)
Masters Certificate in Business Analysis or equivalent. (126 hours)
Project Management Institute Certified Associate in Project Management or equivalent.
5 years of related experience including information technology experience
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 35-hour work week
$49.08 per hour, Pay Grade 17
