This newly created position will be responsible for providing oversight and management of the day to day functions of the project accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable teams within the finance department. In addition to the day to day duties this position will be responsible for supporting process development to ensure the organization has the internal infrastructure to support scalable and sustainable growth as the business enters a new growth cycle.
Management of the project accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions within the finance team. Provide teams with clear deliverables and mentorship.
Oversight of accounts payable. Manage current processes, review and approved weekly pay runs, work closely with the other Divisional Controller to manage working capital.
Oversight of project accounting and cost controls. Working closely with project accounting team, reviewing project reporting in detail, asking pertinent questions and proactively identifying commercial and financial risks.
Oversight of accounts receivable. Working with billing coordinator on customer related challenges and presenting technology solutions wherever practical. This also includes managing the process overlap between project accounting and accounts receivable to identify/close control gaps.
Work close with Financial Reporting Manager to ensure each team’s (accounts payable, project accounting, accounts receivable) month end requirements are timely and accurate.
With close support of project accounting, responsible for the maintenance of bonding facilities for the organization.
Working closely with and help to support the cost controls function. Work closely with site construction teams to identify and close cost control gaps.
Work closely with other departments (estimating, contracts, payroll, site administration, etc.) to support process development relating to the project life cycle, project reporting, as well as communication and workflows.
A significant portion of this role with be project based. A successful candidate will be expected to work closely with Senior Leadership, IS&T, project controls and operations to support internal infrastructure development and efficiencies to ensure the business is well supported as it executes aggressive growth initiatives.
Work closely with estimating, contracts, and project accounting to ensure accurate and effective rate management including collective bargaining agreements, site specific agreements, etc.
With support from project accounting, oversee JV and subsidiary project reporting.
4 year university degree in Business/Finance or related field.
CPA designation required. Preference will be given to legacy CMA or CA candidates.
Preference will be given to candidates with construction or industrial manufacturing experience.
Industry experience required, however Big 4 audit managers looking to transition to industry will be considered provided they have extensive construction audit experience.
Exceptional communication skills will be a requirement of this role.
Experience in the assessment of internal control and process will be a strong asset.
Experience working with and supporting IS&T on development of systems, ERP enhancements, etc. is a strong asset. This includes strong skills in Excel and ability to learn and understand new systems quickly.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a “big picture view” balancing the implementation of control & process with efficiency & scalability.
Must possess high degree of initiative and be adept to deal with a constantly changing business environment.

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external relationships.
The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to sit for extended periods of time.
