Health & Safety Coordinator Responsibilities and Job Description

The following are the duties and responsibilities for the KCU Health & Safety Coordinator:

1. Hot Work Program

  • Matching permits
  • Collecting permits daily
  • Following up on missing documents
  • Correcting mistakes with the responsible people
  • Performing an organized monthly audit so performance can be measured -Gathering all hot work permits together and doing a gap assessment on the last month. Monthly JHSC Reporting

2. New Worker Program

  • Conducting orientations and site tour with all new workers
  • Orientation Training * Conduct necessary training, mark tests and review results with worker
  • Complete the General Site Orientation- First Day Training Record.
  • Start New Worker Record for applicable supervisor * Fill out first check boxes of front sheet indicating orientation and tests have been completed
  • Follow up weekly on all New Worker Records to ensure the applicable supervisors are filling out the forms correctly and at the proper intervals Monthly JHSC Reporting

3. Maintaining the Contractor Program

  • Orientate new contractors * Ensure all paperwork is present and signed at orientation * Complete the Contractor Management Checklist during orientation
  • File Contractor Paperwork
  • Monthly conduct gap assessment and update Contractor Spreadsheet on the cloud
  • Contractor observations/FLHA Conduct some observations periodically Follow up with supervisors to acquire observations and FLHRAs or remind supervisors (periodic not frequent) Monthly JHSC Reporting

4. Fire Program

  • Monthly fire extinguisher inspections. * Including inspection of fire extinguishers with follow up.
  • Co-ordinate fire drills (two times per year all sites)
  • Annual Fire Plan revisions KANCANUSA FOREST PRODUCTS 2021
  • Annual fire inspection organized
  • Assist in coordinating required sparkwatch, incident command and similar emergency training and drills (ie confined space/working at heights) Monthly JHSC Reporting

5. SOP/SWP

  • Create SOP rough drafts for all jobs in order to assist with developing our Training Program.
  • Post updated SWPs around plant and assist supervisors with completing SWP reviews as required Monthly JHSC Reporting

6. First Aid Program

  • Follow up on FA meeting actions
  • Ensure quarterly inventories conducted by attendants and supply orders completed
  • Conduct an annual first aid drill
  • Modified duty program tracking and first aid assessments and planning
  • First Aid Tracking spreadsheet maintained
  • Injury Management spreadsheet maintained
  • Submit FA and Modified Duty report weekly (every Friday) to senior Monthly JHSC Reporting

7. Inspection Program

  • Conduct or delegate monthly site safety tours
  • Log all actions or deficiencies from safety tour, provide to responsible supervisors/personnel to complete actions, and follow up that actions are addressed prior to the next JHSC meeting. Monthly JHSC Reporting

8. Investigation Program

  • Conduct Initial Investigations within 48 hrs of incident, including corrective actions

9. Risk Assessments Program

  • Annual and regular assessments including MSI, hearing, lighting and more Monthly JHSC Reporting

10. Change Management Program

  • Participate in change management process
  • Track change management actions and inventory on spreadsheet
  • Follow up that all actions are completed Monthly JHSC Reporting

11. Training Program

  • Maintaining the Training Matrix KANCANUSA FOREST PRODUCTS 2021
  • Conducting frequent gap analysis to identify upcoming training needs or training gaps
  • Assisting to schedule training
  • Setting up training rooms, lists and organizing participants
  • Following up and checking that all workers on each job have documented and appropriate training Monthly JHSC Reporting

Salary: $51,629.00-$63,102.00 per year
