The Youth Programs & Aquatics Manager is personable, detail-oriented, active, energetic, and a zealous leader who plans, executes and oversees all youth programs and activities. They are an enthusiastic, water loving person who is zealous about upholding a quality Canadian Red Cross aquatics program for the members of Altea Active and our community.

You have an innate ability to program various youth activities such as rock climbing, ninja courses, aquatics, arts & crafts, summer camps etc. With the help of your associates you offer a positive, welcoming environment that delivers fun, enriching and socially engaging activities that stimulate all ages of participants and address each person’s unique needs. You follow the Canadian Red Cross Training and Certification initiatives to graduate participants through the program.

Your youthful spirit allows you to genuinely connect with your team members and effectively train and oversee them. You have leadership skills that allow you to encourage and motivate your team. You can adapt your communication and approach to suit any audience. You enjoy recruiting, selecting, training and consistently developing your high performing team members. You effectively utilize the department budget to build and manage your team’s schedule ensuring revenue targets are achieved.

You’re a go-getter who has a special aptitude for sales. You thrive in creating, managing and operating within a budget. You have an eye for detail and data with the ability to generate accurate reports to evaluate the overall performance of the program.

To land this role you need to have;

  • Post-secondary education relating to the health and fitness industry/recreation management
  • Additional certifications or workshops relating to customer service are an asset
  • At least 1+ year experience working, and managing programs, with diverse populations
  • 3+ years’ experience developing and leading a team in aquatics programs from creating schedules to preparing curriculums, for clients ranging from age 3 to adult.
  • At least 4+ years direct work experience in youth program development, project management including process development and execution.
  • Must have current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) qualifications
  • All certifications must be maintained throughout employment. Proof of certifications must be provided prior to commencing.
  • All team members must have current CPR/First Aid certification prior to start date and must be maintained throughout employment
  • All team members must provide a recent Criminal Background Check prior to commencement of training and/or work.
