We are currently recruiting for an Application Support Specialist in our Toronto office. This position is responsible for actively monitoring and managing Firm applications and associated services through a strong understanding of technologies and principles of software application support, system administration and service delivery.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Implementation of complex, business critical systems in a production environment and to provide application support to high service levels that facilitate the effective utilization of systems and services.
Assessment and implementation of continuous improvement activities including new support tools and automation including Windows scripting, batch processing and SQL database querying. Assist in complex technical tasks to support various line of business requirements and support requests.
Provide insights into stability and availability of the applications and services. Anticipate future demands and growth by working closely with the Manager, Desktop Applications and Manager, Enterprise Applications
Document Management System and related services and processes support, configuration, design, testing, implementation and task automation.
Work closely with internal IS groups and vendors to identify and resolve integration, compatibility, configuration, and connectivity issues across services and applications. As a senior technical resource, the role would act as an escalation point for complex or high risk technical issues. Provides escalation support as required.
Develop and coordinate the plan and effort for installing and upgrading applications and related services with internal IS resources and trainers, and keep key stakeholders and IS management up to date.
Abides by all Firm policies including the policy on confidentiality
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering Science or Mathematics.
Minimum five years of experience working in a technical systems or application administrator role.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills
Prior production support experience supporting Windows Server, SQL Server in large enterprise environment
MS SQL Server and SQL skills including ability to develop and execute basic SQL queries involving inner Joins and filters for the purposes of application monitoring and troubleshooting and data handling.
Solid understanding and of Active Directory and Group Policy Objects as well as software deployment within an enterprise.
Strong knowledge of Windows Registry and demonstrated proficiency with windows scripting and database querying for automation and timely/accurate task completion.
Strong analysis skills with sound problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Knowledge of iManage Document Management System and legal applications and services is preferred, including
- iManage FileSite, DeskSite, WorkSite, Work, IDOL, RAVN
- IntApp Ethical Wall
- IntApp Time
- Adobe Acrobat
- Enterprise search applications
- Enterprise legal applications, services and systems including DocuSign, Closing Folders, Contract Express, HighQ, Aderant, and other.
