Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing, the successful candidate will be responsible for administering subcontracts in collaboration with a wide array of internal stakeholders to mitigate commercial risk. The position will also be responsible for maintaining risk registers for potential claims, supplier performance issues, and any other significant events related to subcontract work performance. Key Responsibilities · Ability to drive a highly methodical approach in administering subcontracts once an award has been made
  • Collaborate with construction, procurement and legal to thoroughly understand the sensitivities and the risks embedded in all critical subcontract packages.
  • Maintain a rigorous schedule of meetings to ensure that the project team and the subcontractors are aligned with each other and the terms, conditions, and scope of the subcontract.
  • Provide the project team of subcontract work status, commercial updates and significant events
  • Work with the project team to ensure that all milestones are achieved and that invoices for work not performed is disallowed and that payments are made in line with the prevailing terms of the main contract.
  • Maintain separate registers for risks, potential claims, supplier performance issues, change and any other significant event as it relates to performing subcontract work
  • Support the drafting and/or amending of contracts or other documents
  • Generally, assist and support the Contracts Manager
  • Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents
  • Assist project staff with identification, documentation and quantification of changes of scope or claims
  • Act as the onsite point of contact for contractual matters on the assigned project
  • Liaise with and provide guidance on contract matters to project team members
  • Support and coordinate the preparation of claims
  • Draft notices to client of changes or events requiring notice
  • Obtain the assistance of the appropriate Legal department and or the procurement team, as required
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an educational background in Business Administration / Law / Communications / Paralegal
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in the construction industry in project management / contract administration
  • Technical or legal post-secondary education
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of legal documents, navigating contracts and interpreting them
  • Basic knowledge of contract administration procedures
  • Respectful, diplomatic but persuasive communication skills
  • Experience in drafting and administering contracts
  • Display sound judgement and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Good planning and time management skills
