Clearwater's Bedford, NS, office requires a full time, permanent, Systems Engineer - Network, Directory Services.

Purpose of Position:
This role will manage Global Active Directory structure including all related functions (DNS etc.) This would include, but is not limited to the security surrounding the hardware infrastructure, at the server level as well and the lan/wan network working together to support Network and Security Manager.

This role will also ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to: Senior Network and Security Manager

  • Travel locally, nationally and internationally is a required element of this role
Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:
Operational Management

Ensure a stable Active Directory platform for all of Clearwater
Ensure stable AD and DNS infrastructure
Support Active Directory security as per business requirements
Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Knowledge of publishing external access to various applications.
Anticipate, mitigate, identify, respond to, and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval.
Support the management and security for local area networks, as well as follow Global security requirements for the Clearwater WAN
Install and configure storage devices and corresponding software.
Assist in management of servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
VMWare management, templates, deployment, redundancy etc.
Hybrid environment directory synchronization ownership and management including SSO

Strategy & Planning

Collaborate with executive management and IT team to assess near- and long-term capacity needs.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to Active Directory configuration
Develop, implement, and maintain Disaster Recovery procedures and documentation.
Design Clearwater Active Directory infrastructure to meet current and future needs
Revise and improve global standards related to Active Directory and DNS.
Work with systems and database administrators to implement storage architectures that utilize industry best practices including [Information Lifecycle Management, Hierarchical Storage Management.
Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals for enterprise storage in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
Design and maintain Disaster Recovery unified procedures across Clearwater
Work in conjunction with IT support group to develop incremental and full data backups daily and weekly including DR strategy.

Acquisition & Deployment

Develop and maintain AD relating functions and leverage current technologies where applicable. (RMS, SMS, monitoring, etc)
Implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets.
Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the above mentioned technologies
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification

University degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
Certifications in Active Directory, Security, Storage
