Job Summary

The Training and Development (T&D) Coordinator will develop, implement and maintain a training program for the Disability Services department to ensure the accreditation requirements and provincial standards are met. He/she will use their superior communication skills in all aspects of the job, including where he/she works collaboratively with department supervisors to determine the training needs of the department staff, and ensure they are qualified to provide excellent service delivery. The T&D Coordinator is a confident and extremely organized innovative-thinker with a demonstrated ability to make good business decisions and build meaningful relationships in the community. His/her adaptability, networking and strategic approach makes them a strong contributor to the strength and success of the entire Disability Services department.



  • Manage and disperse department training budget allocation

Human Resources Management:

  • Identify training needs for direct service, supervisory and administrative staff (i.e. disability diagnoses, documentation, conflict resolution, computer skills)
  • Identify general training to meet needs of persons receiving service (i.e. FASD, Autism, behaviours, personal care)
  • Work with supervisory staff to ensure individuals receive necessary training
  • Work with individuals and groups to meet identified training needs
  • Identify and train facilitators to deliver workshops & courses

Program Development:

  • Develop in-house training workshops & courses (in-person, electronic)
  • Develop knowledge of external resources for training
  • Explore potential for in-house mentorship within department

Program Implementation & Maintenance:

  • Establish & promote training opportunities for department staff to increase engagement
  • Manage delivery of training opportunities
  • Manage registration for training
  • Maintain record (attendance sheets, training certificates, etc.) requirements
  • Use metrics for ongoing assessment of program effectiveness


  • Distribution of budget training dollars
  • Make decisions related to the Disability Services department training
  • Scheduling of training opportunities
  • Consult with the Director regarding:
  • Budget needs / changes
  • New and developed training opportunities
  • Non-compliance of individuals to take training
  • Any matter with Disability Services department training which may impactupon the YWCA image, and/or have legal or financial implications forYWCA Edmonton
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with training facilitation and program development
  • Knowledge of training requirements for people working with persons with disabilities considered an asset
  • Ability to develop training courses and programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with individuals at all levels
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Cleared Criminal Record Check and Youth Intervention Checks obtained in the last six (6) months
  • Post-Secondary education in Education or Human Resources considered an asset
  • Behavioural certifications considered an asset

  • Able to provide a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Able to provide a clear Youth Intervention Check

Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent (37.5 hours/week with flexible hours to meet the needs of the department.
