Chernoff Thompson Architects, a downtown Vancouver architectural firm, requires a full-time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant.

The role of the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant is to provide support to the firm and must be able to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy and with minimal supervision.

This role is a position that works as part of a team based administrative support group providing administrative assistance to four Partners and the studio team of 32-35 persons. Working as part of a team to support all the project delivery personnel is important.

Tasks include:

  • Greet all visitors in a warm and friendly manner
  • Reception, front desk duties (telephone, couriers, welcoming visitors) at times
  • Maintain office calendar
  • Operate switchboard
  • Distribute mail, and arrange couriers
  • Help maintain cleanliness of kitchen/lunch area: clear dishwasher, wipe down surfaces etc
  • Preparation of high quality documents, including: specifications, site reports, client/architect contracts, construction contracts, project schedules, meeting notes and general correspondence
  • Travel arrangements
  • Posting career opportunities; organizing and vetting responses
  • Liaison with building management/landlord

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong English language & communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe PDF
  • MS Project
  • Typing skills of min. 65/wpm
  • Very high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work in a fast-paced environment
  • First Aid Certificate would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills

A university degree from a recognized Canadian Institution or equivalent is preferred.

This is a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours/week typical). Hours are 8:30AM-5:00PM Monday to Friday. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
