Position Summary:

Thermo Homes completes a thorough air seal by following the same steps for every building enclosure. We take great care to ensure substantial improvement in unwanted air leakage without creating issues from reduced air flow.

  • Blower Door Test for baseline airflow.
  • Thermal Imaging for voids in insulation.
  • Caulk and weather-strip doors and windows.
  • Caulk and seal baseboards and window trim.
  • Caulk and seal air leaks where plumbing, ducting, or electrical wiring penetrates walls, floors, ceilings, and cabinets.
  • Install foam gaskets behind outlet and switch plates on walls.
  • Use foam sealant on larger gaps around windows, baseboards, and other openings.
  • Inspect exhaust fans to stop air leaks around rough openings.
  • Replace door sweeps and thresholds if necessary.
  • Seal air leaks around fireplace chimneys, furnaces, and gas-fired water heater vents with fire-resistant materials such as sheet metal or sheetrock and fire rated sealant.

Work Requirements:

The insulation and air seal assistant will be responsible for following the Thermo Homes 10 step air sealing process. To complete this process the candidate must be able to:

  • Use hand tools such as caulking guns, utility knives & screwdrivers
  • Be clean, neat & tidy when working in other peoples homes
  • Work safe, using proper personal protective equipment
  • Be able to travel to job sites throughout Atlantic Canada. Travel & lodging will be provided if necessary.
  • Work non-regular hours: The average work-day is 8 hours of working time Monday - Saturday. As a result of material pick up and travel-time to job sites, some days are longer. The employee should be prepared for flexible working hours.

Education/Work Experience:

Some experience in the construction industry such as insulation, windows or finish work, would be beneficial. However, no specific experience is required. We will train the right employee.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Salary: $13.00 to $15.00 /hour
