This position manages the Production Planners

Basic Function:
Responsible for the development, administration, operation, maintenance, and control of the master production schedule. Must manage all MRP dates, MRP messages, and customer order dates in the IFS system. Review the shop floor capacity and known constraints/bottlenecks to work with Management to ensure all production work centers are level loaded. This includes consideration for latest order receipts, options, service parts, and other independent requirements. Responsible for activities of the Production Planners to support the master production schedule.

Essential Duties:
Responsible for the continued review of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) as it relates to actual sales and production of items and must evaluate need for MPS changes based on daily/weekly activities.
Provides proposed Delivery Dates to the Order Entry function balancing Customer Expectations with Production capacity and scheduling needs.
Monitor the Manufacturing performance with regard to the MPS and the execution of the schedule to evaluate results and work with Production Management to assist in the development of recovery plans and future needs to meet Customer Requirements.
Use the monthly Production Plan to develop the weekly MPS and ensure the MPS falls within the guidelines set by the Production Plan by level loading the shop floor with regard to capacity planning.
Recommends changes to the Production Plan to Management who resolves those issues at the Production Planning meetings.
Communicate effectively with Manufacturing, Marketing, Engineering, Data Processing, and Materials Management levels to review and resolve schedule problems and avoid potential problems due to requested schedule changes.
Determines the necessity for MPS changes (variance in sales forecast, new product introduction, material shortages, etc.) and takes appropriate action based on the impact on both short and long‑range production.
Gives delivery promise dates on incoming orders in a build‑to‑order environment. Matches actual requirements with the MPS as they materialize.
Monitors planned input against planned output and reviews indicators to identify problems. Takes corrective action and updates users and managers as required.
Ensures the integrity of the product structure by working with all functional departments. Must review and assist cost accounting in evaluating the cost rollup of the products.
Supervise and guide Production Planning team to ensure the MRP schedule dates are met by all functional departments.
Responsible for determining where Safety Stock inventory dollars are to be allocated to get the best return on this investment in assets to meet Production Plans and customer requirements.
Maintains outside professional contact and participates in APICS and other associations and activities to keep abreast of current developments in the whole area of Materials.

Education: B.S. or B.A. preferred (APICS certification a plus)

Experience: 1 - 5 years or more preferred

Physical Skill and Effort:
Work requires moderate speed and accuracy operating office equipment. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements.

Working Conditions and Hazards:
Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions; position requires ability to work in a normal

Office and production plant with welding, machining, and fabrication operations

environment. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features; possibility of accidents

of a minor nature requiring first aid.
