Kiewit requires Heavy Duty Mechanics at our PDH Site in Fort Saskatchewan.

Job Description

Maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment which may include:

  • internal combustion engines and components, both stationary and mobile,
  • friction winch experience
  • air controls experience
  • large AC and DC Electric and hydraulic motors, controls and drive systems
  • diesel drive systems including heavy duty torque converter and transmissions
  • systematic trouble shooting of electric, hydraulic and air systems
  • tracked equipment, commonly called crawler tractors,
  • ground engaging equipment and components,
  • earth moving equipment,
  • off-highway motor vehicles, commonly called trucks, and
  • towed off-highway vehicles, commonly called trailers.
  • interpret work orders and technical manuals,
  • keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained,
  • diagnose faults or malfunctions,
  • adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems,
  • test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations, and
  • write service reports.
  • Journeymen will instruct Apprentices

Position Requirements

  • Valid Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification, Interprovincial Journeyman or Red Seal Certificate
  • This position requires the successful candidate to have a minimum of three years of work experience in the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic trade.
  • Class 3 license
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) ticket
  • Able to pass for Drug & Alcohol & Fit for Duty testing
  • Need to have steel-toed work boots and work clothes
