The Senior Accountant is a member of the Newterra Finance Team responsible for the day to day management of the Newterra Group of Companies’ financial reporting as well as the Engineered Solutions and EPRO business units. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Controller, Assistant Corporate Controller, and Business Unit Controllers to support financial reporting and analytics for the Newterra Group and their respective Business Units.

They will be the team lead for banking and cash management as well as sales and use tax.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and analytical support for the consolidated financial statements and key metrics package for Newterra Group
  • Financial reporting and analytical support for the Engineered Solutions and EPRO divisions including but not limited to:
  • Month end reporting improvements and preparation
  • Business Unit reporting packages
  • Business Unit working papers
  • PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  • Provide monthly analysis and recommendations to General Managers
  • Inventory and Balance Sheet analysis

· Maintenance of the central pivot data table

· Maintenance of the monthly budget vs actual reporting

· Maintenance of the monthly corporate shared allocation spreadsheet

· Assist Corporate Controller and Senior Financial Analyst in ensuring adherence to Newterra’s internal control policies and other ad hoc requests

· Banking / cash management team lead, which includes statutory bank compliance reporting

· Sales/tax team lead and tax compliance

  • Continuous improvements through a review of transactions, systems & processes to determine and implement improvements that could be made, financially or otherwise
  • Annually, work with auditors and tax advisors
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of the annual budgets for all divisions and corporate consolidated
  • Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, near-misses and incidents to their Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills Required

  • Professional accounting designation (or working towards)
  • 3-5 years of management accounting experience
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail, advanced excel
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organizational and leadership abilities
