Federal tax refunds, warehouse locations, transfer pricing and corporate capitalization – these are just a few of the many issues that may need to be addressed in managing the company's overall tax liability.

The US Tax Practice is a team of professionals who assist businesses and individuals to manage and minimize taxes in a cross border context. Our group provides compliance services which includes assisting clients with their US federal and state tax return filing requirements and a wide range of tax consulting services. Our US Tax professionals collectively provide the following range of services:

Decide which US corporate structure makes the most sense from a tax perspective – subsidiary, branch or joint-venture partnership
Choose the type of subsidiary capitalization that is most beneficial – debt, equity or a combination of the two
Determine how a limited liability company (LLC) can help the company meet certain strategic objectives
Locate operations in jurisdictions that offer incentives, such as property tax holidays
Ensure profits are repatriated to Canada at a manageable tax cost
Identify and benefit from valuable US federal tax incentives
Claim important sales and use tax refunds
Negotiate with the IRS and state tax authorities
Structure your operations to enhance “double dip” opportunities for deductions
Develop a transfer pricing strategy that meets your business needs and complies with the relevant statutory provisions

What you will do:
Manage tax driven projects such as reorganizations
Consulting closely with clients and Partners as a senior member on tax planning work
Involvement in both compliance and consulting activities
Reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness
Relationship building and business development
Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff
Collaborate with team members in Tax and Assurance groups

What you bring to the role:
Successfully achieved a US CPA and/or Canadian CPA
Masters of Taxation is an asset
Completed 5-8 years specializing in tax in a public accounting firm or industry
Ability to interpret tax legislation as it relates to US federal taxes and cross-border tax issues
